We see everything in the universe. All these things are layers. The society, the body has its sex (male or female), and then the mind has its ups and downs (moods, joy and sorrow). But we are unable to perceive beyond that. More than seventy five percent of the people in society are not aware of their body or themselves - not even their body!! They are just aware of what people are saying, and what is happening outside. A very small percentage are conscious. They are aware of what they are doing, what they are saying, and what is happening in their body. They are concerned about their body. And even a smaller percentage are those who are aware of what is happening in the mind. Many are not aware. If they are angry, they just act like machines. They become angry, agitated, or worried without an awareness of what is happening in them. Just look back at yourself. See what happened earlier. Like when children are angry, they are angry. They are not aware they are angry,or how stiff they are. They just sit stiffly with long faces. They don't say, 'I'm stiff now, Mommy.' Or 'There is something happening in me, I am stiff, I want to get rid of the stiffness'.
It is lost in the circumstances. It is lost in the environment. But when you have started meditation, you are aware the moment you are angry or unhappy. Of if thought come into your mind, you say, 'Oh, so many thoughts are bombarding my mind! I want to get rid of them.' Remember, this means you have experienced a state which is void of thoughts, and because you have experienced a state void of thoughts, you could say, "I want to get rid of these thoughts. Too many thoughts are coming into my mind". You cannot be seen. Your mind can be seen, but you cannot be. เคจाเค्เคทเคोเคเคฐः There are people who want to see the Self. What do they do? They close their eyes and look for a light, 'Oh, that is my Self. Self is like a Dot. Concentrate on the dot.' So you close your eyes, see the dot and think that is your Self. People are fond of making the Self an object of perception. Self-realization means, 'Oh, something is coming up, a big light. The sun is coming up.' Who is seeing the sun? Who is seeing that light? Who is seeing that? But you have heard or read in a book that a blue or yellow light appears. So you sit with eyes closed, thinking, 'Blue light, yellow light...where is the blue light, where is the yellow light, what is happening to me?' Then someone else shares his experience, and says, ' Oh, I had a golden light dawning on me'. You think, 'I have no golden light, that person has more luck. He is more evolved than me. I am bad!' Experiences are experiences, they are not Self. เคจाเค्เคทเคोเคเคฐः - you cannot be seen by your eyes. The Self cannot be seen because the seer is the Self. You can only 'be', that's all. And meditation is just being, not having an experience or doing something.

Some are caught up in righteousness, and some are caught up in the opposite - unrighteousness or adharma. A person who is corrupt cannot be at peace, because his corruption is bothering him at a very deep level. A person who is against corruption is also bothered by the same corruption, because in his mind he is saying to himself that corruption should not be there! It is same with truth and falsehood, joy and sorrow. They come and go. They pass. They are in the realms of the mind. This is very revolutionary. You are trapped in both dharma and adharma.
There are so many religious people in the world. I would think that more than sixty percent of the world population would be religious people. There are people ready to sacrifice their lives for he sake of religion. In fact, all the fighting in the world is caused by religion. If you remove or take out religion, then how can there be a fighting in Lebanon or the Middle East, or anywhere in the world? Dharma brings adharma with it. In the name of dharma, there is so much fighting. So if religious people had been liberated into the Self (liberated and become happy), then sixty percent of the world should have been very happy, joyful and blissful, in ecstasy, dancing. But we don't see that, do we? If you go to any place of worship, he people are very dharmic, religious. Are they very happy, joyful?
