Every Morning, Do This ONE Thing As Told By Lord Krishna

Every Morning, Do This ONE Thing As Told By Lord Krishna To Have A Blissful Day
It is said that the thoughts you bring to yourself early in morning or at the time you wake up influence your mood, actions and results throughout the day. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to our thoughts and action when we wake up. In Bhagwad Gita, Lord Krishna has given a simple advice to all the devotees, following which they can experience a blissful day. Let''s check out what it is....

The Saptrishis are born from my heart and are my reflection. A person who remembers their names each morning will spend the entire day happily, while his endeavours will meet with success.
So who are these Saptrishis and what are their names? Let's find out.
1) Vishwamitra
He wrote the Gayatari Mantra and as a teacher of Lord Ram and Lakshman, taught them Devastras - the knowledge and use of celestial weapons in war. Vishwamitra also mentored them in the killing of several demonic characters mentioned in the Ramayana. Legends speak highly of his teachings, including his concepts of heaven and hell, which is still beyond the reach of scientific discovery.2) Vashishta
He was the teacher of the four sons of King Dashratha. The teachings in which he answered Lord Rama's questions and illusions about the universe is known as the Yoga Vashista. He is supposed to have been born as the result of Brahma;s will-power and knew all the secrets of Vedas.3) Bharadwaj
He is the father of sage Dronacharya, which everyone knows was the teacher of Kauravas and Pandavas in Mahabharata.4) Agastya
The origins of Agastya are mythical as he has neither mother nor father. The legend goes that once gods Varun and Mitra were performing a yajna, where celestial nymph Urvashi appears. Overwhelmed by her magnetic sexuality, both ejaculate and their semen fell in a mud pitcher, which became the womb in which Agastya's foetus grew. 5) Bhrigu
He is one of the many prajapatis (the facilitators of creation) created by Lord Brahma and author of Bhrigu Samhita, an astrological classic. He was born from the mind of Brahma.6) Kashyapa
Do you know the region of Kashmir gets its name form Rishi Kashyap who meditated there? Scholars believe that Kashmir is derived from 'Kashyap Mir' or the 'lake of the sage Kashyap.'7) Atri
He is the last of Saptrishis and said to have been born from the tongue of Brahma.
According to Lord Krishna, if you remember these 7 names in the morning after waking up, your endevours throughout the day will meet with success.

Tamil literary works claim that the union between Lord Rangamannar and the poet Andal happened on this day. This day is also highly significant as it is the wedding day of Lord Rama and Goddess Seetha. Hence, this is a special day for celestial weddings.
The mythology behind Panguni Uthiram
Though there were other celestial weddings on this day, Panguni Uthiram is highly significant to Lord Muruga as he married Deivanai, daughter of Lord Indra, on this day. Also called Devasena in North India, she was raised by Indra’s white elephant, Iravat. All Murugan temples celebrate this day.
Jayantipura Mahatmya talks about the divine marriage between Lord Muruga and his consorts, Valli and Deivanai. According to the Skanda Purana, both Deivanai and Valli were destined to marry Lord Muruga. They were raised as sisters, Amrithavalli and Sundaravalli, and in later lives they were rechristened as Devasena and Valli, post their adoption by two different people, and were separated in their lives. Indra adopted the first daughter and a tribal king, the second daughter. When Muruga killed the evil Demons, he was married to Deivanai. Later, with his brother, Ganesha’s help, he married Valli and took her to Thiruthani.

Sri Rama Navami 2023

Sri Rama Navami 2023

Introduction to Sri Rama Navami
Rama Navami, the 9th day of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the Moon or bright fortnight) in the Tamil month of Chithirai (Mar- Apr), is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Rama, the arrival of the divine power on the earth plane. This day is also known as Chaitra Masa Shukla Paksha Navami and it falls on the last day of the Chaitra Navaratri (Vasant Navaratri) celebrations. This is the time to inundate ourselves with the spirit of Lord Rama.

Significance of Sri Rama Navami
Sri Rama Navami
Lord Rama is none other than Lord Vishnu and he is the 7th incarnation and is one of the widely worshipped Gods by the Hindu community. One of the greatest epics, Ramayana, unfolds the story of Lord Rama highlighting his character, virtues and morals. He was beautiful, gentle, soft-spoken, well- accomplished, possessed royal traits and was selfless. His fame, skills, valor and proficiency had no limits and were matchless. He was filled with compassion and was an embodiment of humanity. He was an epitome of love, an ideal son, brother, husband, friend and king. He is the personification of all the highest ideals of man. As a responsible king of Ayodhya, the character of Rama represents the glory of sacrifice and honesty.

Lord Vishnu took birth in this earth plane as Lord Rama in order to establish righteousness, defeat and destroy the evil forces and protect his devotees. The noblest teaching highlighted in the Ramayana is the paramount significance of righteousness in every human being’s life. Righteousness is the first step of spiritual evolution and nurturing this trait over a period unfolds the underlying divinity in a man. It is believed that the incarnation of Lord Vishnu in the human form as Lord Rama, is to institute or demonstrate the importance of the path of righteousness.

Mythology behind Sri Rama Navami
According to the epic Ramayana, during the Treta Yuga, Dasaratha, the king of the ancient Kingdom of Ayodhya lived with his wives Kausalya, Sumithra and Kaikeyi. To his dismay, he was childless or did not have an heir. The great sage Vashistha advised Dasaratha to perform the Putra Kameshti Yagna (ritual for blessing of progeny) to be blessed with a child. As per his advice, the king performed the yagna with the help of trained Vedic pundits in the presence of the special invitee, Maharishi Rishyasringa. At the end of the Yagna, Yagneshwara gave king Dasaratha, a bowl of divine porridge and asked him to distribute it to his wives. After few days, the queens conceived. On Navami ( 9th day) in the Chaitra month at noon Kausalya gave birth to Rama, Kaikeyi to Bharata and Sumitra to twin boys named Lakshmana and Shatrughna. This day is celebrated as Sri Rama Navami.

Rituals of Sri Rama Navami
On the day of Rama Navami, devotees offer their prayers to Lord Rama and also observe fast. As a tradition or practice, first prayers are offered to Sun god, as Lord Rama belongs to the Surya Vamsh (Sun dynasty), which is also called as Raghu Vamsh. As the Sun represents light and power, devotees worship the Sun god to gain his blessings and to fill their lives with his divine light. People sing bhajans in the name of the Lord, chant Rama Nama and read Ramayana. Chanting of Vedic hymns is an important part of the celebrations. Devotees undertake fasting to overcome all obstacles in life and find happiness in the material world. Fasting on this day can also help to purify soul, mind and body.

Vrat (Fasting) Procedure on Sri Rama Navami
Sri Rama Navami Vrat (fasting) is one of the important practices followed by the Hindus. Many devotees observe a day-long fast from the morning. Some people follow a liquid diet on that day and some may prefer to have a one-time meal. Food items like potatoes, garlic, ginger, onion etc. are generally avoided during fasting. Some people consume only fruits.

Why did Lord Rama offer his eyes to Durga

Why did Lord Rama offer his eyes to Durga.

According to Puranas, goddess Durga was mostly worshipped during the spring season. But the origin of Shardiye Navaratra owes its tradition to Lord Ram.
Widely Accepted Practice
"Ram's Akalbodhan during autumn came to be a most widely accepted practice,'' said Avneesh Mishra, a priest with the Vidhyachal Temple in Mirzapur.
The Legend According to Him
Sharing the legend behind it, he said: "In Ramayana, Rama went to Lanka to rescue his abducted wife Sita from the grip of Ravana, the king of demons in Lanka. Before starting for his battle with Ravana, Rama wanted the blessings of Devi Durga.''
Hundred Lotuses
Hundred Lotuses
Priest added that Lord Rama was aware that the goddess would be pleased only if she was worshipped with one hundred lotuses.
Eyes as one of the Lotus
5
Eyes as one of the Lotus
After travelling the whole world, Rama could gather only 99 lotuses. He finally decided to offer one of his eyes, which resembled blue lotuses. Durga, pleased with the devotion of Rama, appeared before him and blessed him. Eventually, Ravana was killed.
The Orginal Tale
6
The Orginal Tale
The story in Krittibas' Ramayan goes somewhat like this. Lord Rama of Ayodhya led an army of 'Banaras' (Monkeys) to wedge a war against the demon king Ravana who had stolen his wife Sita and had held captive in his palace in Lanka.
Ravana pleasing Shiva

Ravana pleasing Shiva
In the midst of the war Rama suddenly noticed that Ravana is trying to please him by singing in praise for him. This made Rama more disheartened because now as Ravana had become a devotee of Rama, the latter could not kill him.
Disappointed
8
Disappointed
The Gods and Goddesses too become disappointed. All the Gods and Goddesses assembled together and it was decided in the meeting that Goddess Saraswati should reside on the tongue of Ravana, making him say foul words to Rama.
Ravana was Slain
9
Ravana was Slain
As this was done, soon a shaft of words from Ravana's mouth pierced Rama's ears and he at once took up arms against the demon king. The war started again and Ravana was slain into two halves by Rama.
It was Surprising

But to everyone's surprise, a boon from Brahma revived Ravana and he worshipped Devi Ambika to support him in his battle against Rama. Devi Ambika joined him and sat with him in his chariot.
Rescue Sita

Rescue Sita
This made Rama poignant even more for he now knew it was quite impossible for him to kill the demon and rescue Sita. Seeing this, all the Gods and Goddesses now approached to Lord Vishnu who suggested that Rama had to pray for the blessings of Goddess Devi Chandika or Goddess Durga.
Worshipping Devi Chandika

Then Bibhishan suggested Rama that the latter should try once again to appease Goddess Durga by offering 108 blue lotuses. Summoned by Rama, Hanuman flew to Debidaha, the only place where one could find blue lotuses.
108 lotuses for his Lord

108 lotuses for his Lord
And brought back 108 lotuses for his Lord. In halfway of his puja, as Rama was going to offer the flowers to the Goddess, he found out that there were 107 blue lotuses and not 108.
Human Incarnation of Lord Vishnu
15
Human Incarnation of Lord Vishnu
Being the human incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Rama had to face the tests of mother superior Durga. To prove his devotion to the Goddess Durga and his intense love for his wife Sita, Rama promptly took his bow and arrow ready to pick one of his eyes .
Blue Lotus Eyes
16
Blue Lotus Eyes
As all know he was born with lotus eyes and everyone regarded them as blue lotus eyes. His decision to pluck his beautiful blue eyes as a substitute for the 108th blue lotus made Devi Chandika or Durga appear in full form before him and stopped him from doing so.
Boon to Rama
17
Boon to Rama
Devi Durga granted the boon to Rama that she would leave the side of Ravana so that he could kill the demon and rescue Sita. Rama had started the puja on the 6th day (Shashthi) of Ashwin and the Goddess appeared before him on the 8th day(Astami).

Between the day of Astami
At the meeting point between the day of astami(8th) and navami(9th) she entered into Ram's weapons and gave them required strength to kill Ravana. Ravana was killed on the day of Dasami.
Some other Tales

Some other Tales
There are, however, some other stories behind the commencement of the autumnal worship of Devi Durga. This is not verified in puranas and is debated concept.
King Surath

King Surath
According to Shree Shree Chandi, by orders of medhas rishi, King Surath (in order to get back his lost kingdom)and Samadhi Vaishya (in order to gain Brahmagyan) had inaugurated the worship of Devi Durga in autumn .
Uncustomary Time
21
Uncustomary Time
This is the first instance of the Goddess being worshipped in the such a uncustomary time. The next instance tells that Lord Indra performed Akalbodhon or the untimely awakening of Devi Durga in autumn in order to kill Mahisasur.
Performed by Brahma

Performed by Brahma
The third time, it was performed by Brahma, just before Rama did with the same purpose as the latter did. Hence we can say that, the story of Devi Durga's Akalbodhon is purely mythical in nature.

What to do on Ram Navami?

What to do on Ram Navami?

Ramnavami, or Ramanavami, is the birthday of Lord Ram and is celebrated by Hindus around the world. The method of celebration varies from region to region but fasting is an integral part of Ram Navami in most places. Lord Ram and Vishnu temples conduct elaborate pujas. Large scale community celebrations are organized in different parts of India which includes recitation of Ramayana and performances by folk artists. Maximum number of Rama Navami pujas take place in Hindu homes.
The rituals associated with Ram Navami starts on Chaitra 1 and ends on Ramnavami. Some devotees fast on all nine days but majority of the people fast only the Ramnavami day.
Those people who undertake fast on the day only eat food made using potatoes. Turmeric, garlic, onion and ginger are avoided. Another method of fasting is to eat only fruits or raw vegetables. There are also staunch Lord Ram devotees who undertake nirjala upvaas (fasting without water).
It is believed that Lord Ram was born at noon so many people break the fast at noon with the Puja ‘prasad.’
On the day, after thoroughly cleaning the house, idols or pictures of Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman are installed in the puja room. Bananas, Tulsi leaves and usual flowers are placed near the deities.
An aarati is offered at noon and devotional bhajans are sung. A tika is applied and Gangajal is sprinkled the people present.
Usual sweets or coconut is distributed as Prasad.
The devotional songs sung include any one Ram Bhajan or Vishnu Sahasranama. Ramayana, especially the chapter Sudarkand, is recited on the day.
In South India, Ramnavami is observed for nine days and on the Ram Navami day people do elaborate puja and traditional fan (Visari) is distributed along with the ‘Prasadam.’ Food and drinks that cool the body are prepared on the day and is consumed after the fast.

The Meaning of Ram Navami

The Meaning of Ram Navami.
Ram Navami is the birthday of Bhagwan Shri Rama. On this beautiful birthday of Bhagwan Rama, let us ask ourselves the meaning of his birth. What lessons do we learn from the Ramayan, from the glorious example of Bhagwan Rama's life?

Bhagwan Rama exemplified the perfect person; he showed us how to embody the divine on Earth, how to live our lives in accordance with dharma and the divine principles.
The story of the Ramayan is a classic, eternal, universal message of dharma versus adharma, of deva versus demon.
Ravana was a brahmin; he was a great vedic scholar who wrote numerous works on scriptural philosophy. He was powerful, dynamic, and beautiful in appearance. As the brilliant, handsome king of Lanka he had everything one would need to be happy and peaceful. Yet, what made him a demon? He was arrogant, egoistic, greedy and lustful. His insatiable desires led him to crave more and more power, more and more money, and more and more beautiful ladies to fulfill his every whim.
Covetous desires can never be fulfilled, and the ceaseless quest for them brings only frustration. Therefore, regardless of how smart we are, how rich we are, or how beautiful we are, we are demons if our hearts are filled with anger and greed. This is, in essence, the difference between Bhagwan Rama and Ravana. Both were kings; both were learned in the scriptures; both were charismatic; both were beautiful. What makes Rama a god and Ravana a demon?
There is one main difference: Bhagwan Rama's heart overflowed with love, generosity, humility, and a sense of duty. Ravana's heart, in contrast, was filled with avarice, hatred, and egoism. Under Bhagwan Rama's divine touch, the animals became his devotees and his divine helpers. Under Ravana's touch, even humans became animals.
But we ask, how to be like Bhagwan Rama? How to be godly and peaceful and righteous? How to win the "war of Lanka" within ourselves? Bhagwan Rama has given us the perfect example through his life and his actions. The way to attain divinity, the way to be "perfect," the way to be in peace instead of pieces, is to follow his clear example.
Bhagwan Rama's primary message is: fulfill your duty without any selfish motives; put other people before yourself. When he was exiled to the forest, Bhagwan Rama did not complain, "but that's not fair." He did not fight back in anger. Rather, he helped his father fulfill a promise; he lived according to his duty as a son and as a future king. He did not once think about himself, his own comforts, his own "rights." Rather, he abided by his dharma and his duty.
Ravana's ego led to his own demise, first the demise of his spirit and heart and then the demise of his body. He thought he was the one who ran everything. He thought that he was the "doer" of it all. On the other hand, Bhagwan Rama was always humble, and he never took credit for anything. Even after he victoriously slew Ravana, he reported it to Sitaji only as, "and this is where Ravana died."
As we celebrate this holiday, as we revel in Bhagwan Rama's birth, let us ask ourselves, "Has the Rama taken birth inside us? Has the good in our hearts taken birth?" Ram Navami is not only a holiday about Bhagwan Rama. It is a holy day, about examining ourselves. Life is so short. We never know when the end will come. For how long do we want to let Ravana live in us? For how long do we want to be controlled by Ravana? We must give birth today to Bhagwan Rama in our hearts.
May God bless you all.

Lord Shiva’s Teachings

Lord Shiva’s Teachings for a Peaceful Modern Lifestyle
shiva

Materialistic Pleasures Are Temporary: Lord Shiva was never attached to wealth. He neither wore gold ornaments nor expensive clothes. He was least bothered about material possessions as he was an enlightened soul who found happiness in real things.
Patience, Persistence And Calmness: Shiva is a yogi. He sat and meditated for hours together. Patience, clarity of thought and wisdom are a product of a calm mind which is a result of meditation.
Suppress Negative Energy: Shiva is someone who had to consume poison and hold it inside him in spite of the pain. In fact, his name ‘neela-kantha’ signifies this act. The lesson here is to gain control over the negative side that exists in you with grace and power. In fact, this is a big lesson in anger management too.
Respect Women And Treat Them Equally: Shiva treated his better half Parvathi as his equal. They lived like two souls in a single body. One of the names of lord Shiva is ‘ardha- nareeshwara’ and it signifies the concept that Shiva and shakthi are inseparable and eternal.
Perceive things clearly and simply: The third eye of Shiva signifies vision that is beyond the ordinary. When you are able to look beyond what is evident you gain the power of superior perception.
Get rid of Ego: A person who successfully controls his mind, intellect and ego is enlightened. The ‘trishul’ that Shiva holds signifies the same.
Attention, Focus And Concentration: The meditative poses of Shiva are a lesson in unwavering attention, focus and concentration. Such qualities can propel us forward and takes us places.
Nothing Is Permanent: Shiva smears ash on his forehead and body. Ash signifies death and rebirth. Nothing is permanent in this world; death and birth are inevitable. This simple realisation would free us from sorrow.
Physical Fitness: In fact, the best fitness activity would be the Tandav dance of Shiva. Being particular about fitness and health is the lesson here.
Keep Your Head Cool: The water or Ganga that flows from the head of Shiva can be a good indication that your head must be cool always even when all kinds of emotions heat it up.

Why is Milk Abhishekam Murugan ?

Why is Milk Abhishekam Murugan ?

Paal abhishekam or pouring of milk on the murti (idol) of Muruga is an important ritual in all Murugan Temples. The ritual has its origin in the Palani Muruga Temple. But why is the milk abhishekam performed?
The murti worshipped at the Palani Murugan Temple is believed to have been created by Siddhar Bogar from nine poisons (Nava Bashanam). He mixed nine deadly poisons and created a medicine which could cure all diseases of Kali Yuga (the present era).
But the medicine could not be taken directly. So Siddhar created the murti of Muruga out of the medicine.
To extract the medicine from the murti, milk abhishekam is performed. The milk poured on the murti absorbs medicine. It then contains medicinal properties. The milk is then collected by devotees.
