The Tara Devi Moola Mantra is the Moola Mantra dedicated to Goddess Tara Devi. Tara Devi is the second Upasana Devi in Dasa Maha Vidyas. She has her own five auxiliary forms called Neela Saraswati, Ugradhara ( Ugra Tara ), Sukladhara ( Shukla Tara ), Neela Dhara ( Neela Tara ), and Chitra Dhara ( Chitra Tara). She helps worshipers to cross the ocean of family life i.e. the “Samsara Sagara” and hence, she is also called Tarini. Her Moola Mantra consists of a few beeja (seeds).

Tara is the Pranava Shakti “OM” and takes her abode in Manipoorka in human body. She is blue in color and she is depicted having four hands holding a scissors, sword, skull, and blue lotus flower respectively, symbolizing cutting of the perennial birth circle and ego on one hand and bestowing knowledge and bliss on the other hand.
It is believed by many that the worship of Tara came to us from Buddhism ; but, let us not forget that Buddhism was born out of Hinduism. In Buddhism, she is worshiped as the Goddess of Compassion. There is also another theory that Goddess Tara is the feminine form of Lord Rama – the incarnation of Lord Maha Vishnu who descended on Earth to kill the demon Ravanaeshwara.
Tantra Shastra stress that the Mantra Diksha (initiation) of the Tara Devi Mantra (Tara Mantra) should be taken preferably from a woman.
Yantra Of Goddess Tara Devi
The bhupura is of leaf green colour symbolizing balance. The petals are pink symbolizing shyness. Whereas, the upward pointing triangle is in vermilion color symbolizing rage and the violet/blue background represents Goddess Saraswati (wisdom / knowledge).

The benefits of praying to Goddess Tara Devi are aplenty. Goddess Tara Devi is said to protect her devotees from all misfortunes in life and gives successive successes in all endeavors. It is believed that she is also a boon giver when she is worshiped with utmost devotion. Tara Devi also protects the people from the hurdles and dangers in sea travels and in holy pilgrimage.
The Tara Devi Moola Mantra given below will also help to avert enemies (chatru) and the problems caused by them. This mantra can also be chanted to prevent misunderstanding that can cause arguments, disputes, and hate between family and friends.
Tara Devi can also be worshiped by chanting the Tara Devi Moola Mantra to improve one’s intelligence and ability to grasp knowledge. If you are unable to chant the mantra on a daily basis, you may chant it on Thursdays. Apart from that, Panchami tithi and Full Moon Day also known as Purnima (Pournami) are also considered days auspicious to worship Goddess Tara Devi. You may also worship her during Vasant Panchami (Vasantha Panchami) and Navratri.
Best Day To Initiate The Tara Devi Moola Mantra
The best days to initiate the mantra are either on a Shukla Paksha Wednesday, on a Full Moon Day (Purnima / Pournami), on Vasanth Panchami (Vasantha Panchami), or during Navratri.
Best Time To Chant The Moola Mantra Of Tara Devi
The mantra should be recited during Brahma Muhurta. Apart from that, 6.00 a.m. – 7.00 a.m or during Buddha Hora
Number of Times To Chant The Tara Devi Moola Mantra
This mantra can be chanted for a minimum of 9 times on a daily basis. Apart from that, one can also chant it for 108 or 1,008 times.
Who Can Chant This Mantra
This powerful mantra can be chanted by anyone regardless of gender and age.
*Ladies should avoid chanting this mantra during their monthly menstrual cycles.
Attaining Mantra Siddhi Of The Tara Devi Moola Mantra
In order to attain mantra siddhi of the Tara Devi Moola Mantra, you must start chanting it starting from a Shukla Paksha Panchami or Shukla Paksha Wednesday or on a Full Moon Day (Purnima). The Tara Moola Mantra must be chanted for 1,008 times daily for a period of 91 days.
How To Worship Goddess Tara Devi ?
You can use the either the photo or yantra of Tara Devi (given above). Apart from that, you may also worship Goddess Tara Devi using either the Shri Chakra or Shri Maha Meru Yantra which is considered even more auspicious.

Where To Chant The Tara Devi Moola Mantra
This mantra should be chanted facing the East while seated on either the Northeast or East quadrant of your house or puja room.
Naivedya / Nivedhyam / Prasadham (Food Offerings) For Tara Devi
One can offer sweet prasads such as sweet pongal and traditional sweets. Apart from that, pure cow’s milk sweetened with jaggery can also be offered as naivedya. Small quantity of honey (a tablespoon will do) or anything sweet made with honey too can be offered to Goddess Tara Devi.
Besides that, just a handful or a small piece of jaggery and/or rock sugar too can be offered as naivedya (nivedhinam) to Goddess Tara Devi.
Flowers / Plants For Tara Devi
Any fragrant white flowers such as Jasmine, White Champa, and White Rose can be offered (though, white lotus flower is most auspicious to Goddess Saraswati). Besides that, blue coloured flowers such Butterfly Pea too can be offered.
*Never ever offer artificially coloured flowers to Gods.

You can use rosary beads (japa mala) made out of clear quartz crystal (spadika mala) or pearl or even moonstone for the japa of the Tara Devi Moola Mantra
