Once a Disciple asked The Master, "Who do you consider a good disciple?"
The Master's say, "For a Master, each and every disciple is precious, because the Lord has Chosen the Disciple to return to His True Home. But He will need to do Naama Bhakti. So, the disciple who Lives completely in The Master's Will, and is filled with The Naama, is the best disciple. Let us understand it better through an incident.
Once, A poor man came into the meditation hall and stood in front of The Master's Chair. As The Master was busy in His work, The Master did not notice him.
Couple of Sevadaar came and asked the poor man to go out. But the poor man did not move. He waited patiently for The Master to complete His work.
“If you do not go want to go away, why don't you please sit down?” the Sevadaar said. Still, the poor man did not move.
After 15 minutes, The Master lifted his head on completion of His work and saw the poor man standing right in front of him. The Master said, "I am sorry, I did not notice you. Please tell me what do you want?"
The poor man said with tears in his eyes,
“O Master, Your Grace is more than enough for me. I am feeling hungry. Can you please feed me some rice to satisfy this great hunger.”
The Master looked at his Sevadaar and told them to take the poor man to the mess and feed him. The Master's eyes were filled with compassion and love for the poor man.
“It was a very small issue, you could have asked us directly. Why disturb The Master? Come, let us go,” said the Sevadaar and
took the poor man towards the kitchen. But the poor man did not utter a single word.
After the poor man left, The Master looked at all the people seated in the hall and said, "Did you see that person? We need to learn a lot from him. Even after Initiation, we have not attained the qualities that the poor man has imbibed in him."
A Disciple asked, "Can you please explain to us in detail."
The Master said, "As he is a poor man, he has no big desires, except for food to fill his stomach. He will be satisfied with small quantity of food. After which, he will go find a place, where he can sleep. It could be under some tree or on a bench. Once he lies down, he will sleep happily.
Take our case, do we have the satisfaction that he has? The answer is no. Because, our desires are many. As we satisfy one desire, our next desire crops up. It is non stop flow of desires. Hence, where is the chance for our desires to be satisfied?
The poor man had a great sense of satisfaction. He was happy with what The Lord had bestowed on him. He did not have any extra demands. Contentment is the biggest virtue.
He had patience in abundance. He waited for The Master to finish His work, so that he could place his request. He would have waited for The Master, and not disturbed The Master, even though, he was very hungry. To do Naama Bhakti, Patience and Perseverance are the best companions.
The poor man had the sense of Perseverance too. Even when the Sevadaars wanted him to go out, he did not move an inch. He stood his ground.
His focus was on The Master, his eyes did not batter even for a second. His Dhyaan was completely on me, only. He knew he would have got food even from The Sevadaar, but the poor man wanted it from The Master, the symbol of love and contentment. He knew it will facilitate him in his Naama Bhakti.
The poor man had surrendered himself to the Nature, The Lord. He slept wherever he got a place to sleep. He did not need any luxury or comfort. He was comfortable outside be it cold or hot. The poor man has Realised The Lord.
Just look at the poor man's character, He was Satisfied and Content, free of desires. He was patient and persevering. He had great sense of concentration. Last but not least, the poor man had surrendered himself to The Lord's mercy. These are all the traits that can be found in a good disciple, who lives in The Master's Will.
The Master's Will is that we Live in The Remembrance of The Lord and do Naama Bhakti. It is only the Naama Bhakti that can bestow us such powers. Since, The Naama is filled with Spiritual energy of The Master as we do Naama Bhakti, we too become like The Master. It is The Master who finally helps us Realise The Lord, The Supreme Consciousness."
We are lucky to have The Company of The Master. The Master has initiated us into The Spiritual Path. It is now our turn to show our love towards The Master.
The Master accepts our Love only in Naama Form, not in cash, kind or in materialistic form. It is The Naama Bhakti which pleases Him. The Master rewards us back through The Naama, thus it is necessary for us to have the Inner eyes to see and feel The Master's Grace.
So, let us do as much Naama Bhakti as possible, and wait for His Grace.
