Day 20
By offering negative feelings, you feel relieved. And, he says, offer all positive feelings, offer all virtues. Offering all virtues you are relieved of the burden of feeling somebody special, getting into an ego trip.
There can be two egos, the negative part of the ego and the positive part of the egothat identification. Ego simply means limited identity and love is unlimited expansion. That is why ego and love are always in conflict.
Ego is limited boundary and love is an expansion which moves towards unlimitedness, unboundedness. So what to do? The limited things you offer to the unlimited, to the divine.
Dissolve the boundaries in the vastness of the space and offer them. You can see boundaries when your head is down on the ground, but when you lift your head up, the sky has no boundaries. It is moving from mud to the consciousness, to the vastness of intelligence.
Your body has boundaries, but your spirit has none. The spirit is like the sky, body belongs to this earth. The spirit belongs to the vast expansion, the big mind, the Divinity. So offer all your actions, your thoughts, your tendencies to the Divine. And our actions, our tendencies are a combination of matter and spirit.
Spirit alone cannot act, matter alone cannot act. The combination of spirit and matter, which is life, brings forth all the activity, good or bad, pleasant or unpleasant. Offer them all to the divine. Forgetfulness of one’s nature is misery.
You are miserable when you are away from your nature, because your nature is love. You are love. That is again a sign of love. If you are extremely restless, if you are feeling uncomfortable in your life, it simply shows that you have forgotten the Divine love.
Doing everything else is simply beating around the bush. If you are in anguish, it is simply because you do not remember the Divine love that is in you. Well, all this sounds very nice, but it sounds a bit airy-fairy, not very practical in life. (Laughter)
It is all very good, nice as a theory, but what to do in life? Is it possible? Is it practical? Narada says, yes. If the Gopis could have it, you, too, can have it. Gopis were very simple maids, they were not scholars, they were not intellectuals. Neither did they do a lot of penance or practices.
They were very simple household women. And if they could have it, you can have it, too. It is possible, it is practical, such a love can dawn in you. Wake up, don't under-estimate yourself. Your love is unconditional, your love does not depend on your external situations, circumstances or people.
Like you can breathe anywhere, wherever you are, can't you? You don’t need a condition in order to breathe. You can blink your eyes anywhere. Like blinking your eyelids, like taking a deep breath such simple actions of your existence. Love is even simpler than that, because that is what you are.
