You should do the job comes to you when you have to do it. Then you should relax and rest. You should be happy in yourself. Having done what you have to do, you will be happy.

         ~ Acting Spontaneously ~

                  🌱 Day - 143 🌱

If you start thinking this way - that everybody may commit some or other sin - how can you do service to anybody at all? How do you know the person you are helping will not turn against you or somebody else? If there any way of knowing? So, what is the choice here? Do you have to judge, discriminate, and then act? Or do you act spontaneously? This is very beautiful. All the scriptures preach about being good and doing good. Then, concepts fill your mind, and you struggle with them all your life. All this is getting stuck in what we consider mortality.

But when you go little deeper into it, there is big confusion. Someone asks you for food and out of compassion, you give him some. But then, that person may be a thief. Someone asks you for shelter. But that person may be a wanted criminal. What do you do? On the one hand there is the humanitarian aspect - you see this tired and absolutely worn out man with bruises all over, pleading for help. On the other hand, you feel that he has committed some crime. What do you do? Do you help him? You act spontaneously. This is also a concept. Now you say you should help him, but you may be doing so completely out of discrimination.

If a child makes a mistake, and you don't punish him but rather hug him, then that very child will question you when he gets older. He will accuse you of not correcting him, and setting him on the right path. So what do you do? You respond spontaneously to the situation according to your nature. Don't go on brooding over that action. Spontaneous action is the right action.

तत्कृत्वासे यथासुखम् । You should do the job comes to you when you have to do it. Then you should relax and rest. You should be happy in yourself. Having done what you have to do, you will be happy.

Again, there are four principles. Decide what you want to do and do it, and you will be at rest. Your mind will be at rest. Resolve to do what you want to do, and drop what you cannot do. Put your hundred percent into doing what is required of you. And relax regarding what is not required of you. Drop what you cannot do. Put your hundred percent into what you want to do. Forget what you have already done, just drop it.
