There's an event, an instance in Bhagvad when a yogi talked to the gopis about yoga and meditation. They told him not to talk to them about meditation or yoga. That they were so intoxicated with love for the Lord that they saw only Him in the trees, in the green, in the leaves, in the yogi, in themselves. They saw only Him everywhere. That they were intoxicated and drunk in His love, and felt His presence all the time, everywhere. Even the body did not seem to be their own. It seemed to be His. That He lived in them and breathed through it. And that He ate, looked, smelt and did everything through them. That means yoga has already happened. Knowledge has dawned. Union has happened; the path of love.
श्रद्धस्व तात श्रद्धस्व । You have got to be in one of these three categories. There is no fourth place or category at all. How full, how complete is your shraddha in any of these paths, leads you that far ahead in that direction. A businessman has got to trust in the world and in the people. If he cannot trust anybody and is full of doubts, he cannot make any progress. This is true even in the world and in the various dealings in it. If someone is very doubtful, then they will have neither one or the other - neither inner joy nor other world. Doubt is such a disease.
A few years ago, when I was on a tour of Maharashtra, a couple came to me. The husband had this big problem. He doubted everything. When they went out he would lock the door, walk a few steps ahead, then doubt whether he had locked the door. He would go back, and check the lock to see if it was locked. Then, after going further on, he would doubt again. And the wife felt that she would have to do something about her husband's problem. That it was her only goal. They had seen many doctors and psychiatrists. That he, even had doubts about having his food. Some time after having his food he would ask her if he had eaten. She said that it was high time to end this miserable condition. If it continued, one day he would ask her if she was really his wife. This doubt is a disease. You doubt everybody around, then start doubting yourself and your own action. Samay atma vineshyati. 'The man who reels in doubt day and night will have no progress in life, will go down, down and down, day by day.' Science give you an idea that we don't believe but we know, but it only pushes the stone a little further. The more you know in science, the more you know that you don't know a lot. A true scientist knows that he does not know a lot. He sees that his ignorance has grown bigger now. Knowledge only pushes a stone, a brick forward, but that doesn't mean anything.
