Vastu and health

The main entrance should be prepared according to Vastu rules. It should always face North or East. Prefer teak wood for doors.

- Ensure that there is no obstruction at the entrance. No shoes should be left around the main entrance. Otherwise the positive energy will be blocked.

- The bedroom should always be very clean. At least 20 minutes a day bedroom windows and doors should be kept open. Make sure to ventilate it properly.

- This allows natural light and air to enter the house and fill it with positive energy. Always sleep facing south. This increases wealth.

- If you keep a money plant inside the house, it will be beneficial. It brings good luck to the householder. A money plant should be kept in the north direction in a green vase.

- Fish are not only beautiful to look at but also bring financial benefits. So having an aquarium at home gives peace of mind along with financial stability.

- According to Vaastu, the clock allows energy to flow. So make sure that all the clocks in the house are in good condition. Be it in north or north-east direction.

- Birds symbolize harmony, wealth and happiness. They also attract wealth and energy. So water and grain should be kept for the birds in the balcony.

- According to Vastu rules purple color is a symbol of wealth. Thus, it is beneficial to keep purple colored plants like orchids inside the house.

Every action has consequences

A story told by Sai Baba: Every action has consequences

Premachand is an eminent and well-known Hindi writer. Both of his sons studied in Allahabad, and he and his wife lived in a small town north of Allahabad. One day he and his wife happened to go to a southern city for business and as the train passed through Allahabad, they decided to meet their sons. And they wrote to their sons to meet them at the station.

The train stopped, and the husband and wife exited the train. They saw their sons running toward them. The eldest, before talking to his parents, respectfully touched their feet, and the youngest immediately began to chat lively. Parents asked how their health was and whether their studies were going well. Both answered that everything can't be better. When the train was about to move, the eldest son leaned down at his parents' feet again, while the youngest just waved his hand.

Premachanda's wife just said that about sons and was very happy to see them. To her surprise, she noticed that her husband, contrary to custom, was silent and gloomy. She asked him: "What happened dear?" Why have you suddenly become so serious and silent and are not at all happy to meet your sons? Premachand replied, “You must have not noticed anything. Did you like how the junior acted? ” – “What’s the matter?” I don't see anything wrong with him. He is still very young, and so mischievous and funny! ” – “No, no,” Premachand said, “the elder showed humility and respect by touching our feet twice, and the younger did not even think to do it! ” – “Why take it so seriously?” - the wife objected, - because he is still so young, it must have been awkward for him to bow down to the feet of his parents in front of so many people. He probably expressed his respect, but about himself. He will grow up, get smarter, and everything will get better."

But Premachand was not inclined to compromise and replied, “Dear, the true nature of a man and his way of thinking is evident in his conduct.” Good habits must be established from early childhood, and then such signs of respect become natural and involuntary. I don't know what awaits him in the future".

Father's words have proven to be true. The eldest son, thanks to his diligence and good inclinations, passed the bachelor's exam at the law school, went to London and received the title of lawyer there. After returning to India, he practiced law for three years and later became a judge in the Allahabad Court. He was highly respected for his impeccable manners and courtesy. A younger son, due to negligence towards studies, was forced to leave the institute and appointed as a junior clerk in the Allahabad Court. Everyone showed the eldest signs of respect, and the youngest had to bow to everyone himself.

What's the moral of the story? Character is our destiny. Every action taken today will inevitably affect us in the future.

Yoga and Ayurveda by Frawley

“Yoga practice has 2 stages: the development of sattva and the transcendence of sattva. Development of sattva means purification of body and mind. Transcendence of sattva means going beyond the body and mind to our true Self beyond manifestation. The general rule is that if one has not developed Sattva, one cannot go beyond it. One should not forget this important rule. If we don’t have the appropriate sattva or purity in our body and mind, including in our emotions, it may be premature for us to seek any higher enlightenment. Development of sattva occurs through right diet, physical purification, control of the senses, control of the mind, mantra and devotion. Transcendence of sattva comes from higher meditation practices.
Sattva is also key to Ayurvedic healing. Ayurveda states that the sattvic body and mind are less likely to suffer from disease and more able to continue in a state of balance. Disease, particularly of a chronic nature, is a tamasic state. Tamas brings about the accumulation of toxins and waste materials on a physical level and of negative thoughts and emotions on a psychological level. Health is a sattvic state of balance and adaptation which prevents any excess from occurring. Rajas is the movement either from health to disease or disease to health depending on its direction and development. Acute diseases fall under rajas, which is pain.”

The Witness

On his trip to India, a German once visited a temple that was under construction.

He witnessed a sculptor, making an idol of a Goddess that was to be later installed in the temple.

While looking around, he suddenly noticed a similar idol lying nearby. Surprised, he asked the sculptor, "Do you need two statues of the same Goddess?"

"No," replied the sculptor, without even looking up at him. "We need only one, but the first one got damaged at the last stage," he reasoned as he worked on his new masterpiece.

Curiously, the gentleman went near the previous idol and examined it. To his surprise, he found no apparent damage in the previous one.

"Where is the damage?" he asked confused.
"There is a scratch on the nose of the idol," replied the sculptor, very casually, as he remained busy with his work.

"May I ask where this idol is going to be installed?" the gentleman inquired.

The sculptor answered, "Sure. It will be
installed on a pillar, approximately twenty feet high."

"What?? If the idol is to be placed that far, who is even going to notice that there is a scratch on the nose?" the gentleman immediately questioned with a smirk.

The sculptor stopped his work, looked up at the gentleman for the first time, smiled and said, "Who else, I will!"

_The desire to excel in one's work is exclusive of the fact whether others see it or not...others appreciate it or not._

Compassion in Pain

This story is about a woman named Sindhutai, who lived in a poverty stricken village in Maharashtra, India. She never really had any education. When she was a little girl and wanted to go to school, her family made her take care of the buffaloes. When she was 9 years old, she was married to a man who was about 30. By the time she was 19, she had three sons and was again pregnant.

A Mafia type of person, who was exploiting the people of the village was especially forcing the women of the village to work really hard, and was paying them practically nothing. Everyone was afraid but Sindhutai complained to the local collector who was overseeing the police, and that person was stopped from what he was doing.

This made him so angry that he went and told Sindhutai's husband a lie : "You are such a fool! Your wife is having affairs with so many men! In fact, the child in her womb is my child, not yours. You have to kill that child! If you don't, I will kill it and you too." The 19 year old, pregnant Sindhutai's husband in anger repeatedly kicked her not only on the chest, but also on the stomach, to kill her and the child. She eventually fell unconscious.

He thought she had died, so he dragged her to a cow shed. He left her amidst the herd of cows so that it would seem like the cows had trampled on her and that's how she died.

On regaining consciousness, she found that a cow was protecting her, standing by her side and covering her from above. There were so many buffaloes, oxen and cows walking around that they were sure to trample her, but this cow was driving them all away. And when her in-laws came to make sure that she was dead, the cow chased them away with her horns.

Under that cow, she gave birth to a baby girl, and the cow protected her and the child for hours and hours.

As Sindhutai gained enough strength, she embraced the cow and promised : "I was in great need of help right now; so you protected me. When someone else needs me, I will definitely protect them!"

She did not even get shelter in her Father's house, since they had a tradition that once married, the daughter could not return home. It was a silly tradition in those days.

To protect herself from being exploited, she began living in a crematorium with that little child. She would collect the wheat that people placed around the dead bodies, mix it with water, and then cook the mixture over the fire of the dead bodies. She found this life to be very disappointing and painful. She decided her child wouldn't live like this, so she set out to commit suicide. She went to a railway track with her child in her arms and laid waiting for the train to crush them. But as she was laying there, she heard the painful voice of someone crying.

She stood up from the track and looked in the direction of the voice, and saw an old man who was groaning in hunger and thirst. He was disabled and physically very unfit. He was crying for food and water. Sindhu Tai could not bear to see this, so she went and begged from people, and brought food and water for the old man.

*In that painful moment, compassion took seed in her heart.* A divine thought came to her that this man was the voice of God. She called out to Krishna and said, "I now have a higher purpose in life, to contribute something to the world! I will certainly not commit suicide."

But as she was sitting in a field later that day, she wondered, "What can I do? I have nothing! I don't know anyone! How can I be of any help to anyone?"

As she was thinking, her gaze fell upon the branch of the tree, under which she was seated with her daughter. That branch had been cut brutally by a woodcutter with an axe, and it was just hanging by a thin string, yet that branch was giving shade to her and the child! Sindhu tai had got her questions answered. She decided that, 'no matter how much I've been beaten, no matter how much trouble I am in, I can still do something for others.'

From here on, she started living for others.

As a result, she started raising homeless and orphaned children. She became their mother and took care of them. Somehow, she learned to sing well, and she would sing and beg to take care of those orphans and keep them safe. Over time, people around her saw how many lives she was changing, and built an orphanage for her.

Over the years, she has always said that she has more than 1,500 children and over 1000 grand children, and there has been a tremendous difference to her own life too. All of her children have a great education, many are doctors, lawyers and prosperous farmers. She experienced something she never could have anticipated. She received a lot of recognition and received prestigious awards from the President, Governors, and various national and international organizations for her achievements.

Years later, an old man came to their orphanage. He was hungry, sick, homeless, and asking for shelter. Within moments Sindhu Tai recognized him as her husband, the man who had tried to slay her mercilessly.

She said to him, "When you left me to die, I was helpless and homeless. Today, you are homeless and helpless, but I have a big enough place to house so many people." It was the most meaningful thing she ever said.

She forgave him wholeheartedly and assured him, "I will definitely give you shelter, but today onwards, I am not your wife, I am your mother." And she would introduce him to everyone who came there, as her eldest son, who was sometimes very mischievous.

In one interview, she said : "I consider all of the tragedies in my life to have been gifts to empower me to make a difference to others." She considered it all the grace of God. She also said, "My life has been a road filled with thorns, but I befriended the thorns and my life became beautiful. Now I can give beauty to so many other people's lives too."

That's one little example of influence without affluence. The power of compassion is far greater than anything that money can do.

When money, knowledge, strength and skills are built on the foundation of that compassion, they are enriched beyond our comprehension and make a huge difference to life.

As far as compassion is concerned, it is inherently present in each one of us. Nothing and no one can take that away from us as long as we are aware. Compassion is an instrument of grace and is a true influence beyond affluence.

On 4 January 2022, Sindhu Tai left this mortal world. However, her compassion and affection will live on for centuries.

Great respect and salute to her

Brakes

Once in a physics class, the teacher asked the students, “Why do we have brakes in a car?”

A student got up and answered, "Sir, to help stop the car."
Another student replied, "To reduce and control the speed".
Yet another said, "To avoid a collision".

Soon, the answers started repeating. Hence, the teacher decided to answer the question himself.

With a smile on his face, he said, "I appreciate all of you trying to answer the question. However, I believe it's all a matter of perception! The way I see it, *we have brakes in a car to enable us to drive faster!*".

There was deep silence in the classroom. No one could have imagined this answer.

The teacher continued, "For a moment, let's assume that we have no brakes in our car. How fast are we willing to drive our car now?"

He further said, "It is because of the brakes that we can dare to accelerate, dare to go fast and reach the destinations we desire!"

All the students in the class were left thinking. They had never looked at 'brakes' that way before.

Let's give it a thought!

In life, we come across so many brakes that frustrate us. Our parents, teachers, mentors and friends question us and our progress, direction or decisions in life.

We see their questions as well as the difficult life situations we go through, as "brakes" hampering our speed.

But *what if we looked at them, instead, as enablers or catalysts?* As tools that enables us to take risks, while at the same time ensuring that we protect ourselves..

Because, *sometimes we have to pause, or even take a step back so that we can leap several steps forward!*

It’s because of such questions & situations (periodical brakes) that we have managed to reach where we are today.

Without these 'brakes' in life, we could have skid, lost direction or met with an unfortunate accident.

_Brakes are not meant to hold us back or tie us up in knots. They exist, instead, to help us go faster than before. So that we can reach our destination safely and quickly!_

*Are we grateful for the brakes in our life, or do we only see them as an obstruction to our work?*

The concept of GOD.

In a mother’s womb were two babies.

 One asked the other:
“Do you believe in life after delivery?”

The other replied,
“Why, of course. There has to be something after delivery. Maybe we are here to prepare ourselves for what we will be later.”

“Nonsense,” said the first.
“There is no life after delivery. What kind of life would that be?”

The second said, “I don’t know, but there will be more light than here. Maybe we will walk with our legs and eat from our mouths. Maybe we will have other senses that we can’t understand now.”

The first replied, “That is absurd. Walking is impossible. And eating with our mouths? Ridiculous! The umbilical cord supplies nutrition and everything we need. But the umbilical cord is so short. Life after delivery is to be logically excluded.”

The second insisted, “Well I think there is something and maybe it’s different than it is here. Maybe we won’t need this physical cord anymore.”

The first replied, “Nonsense. And moreover, if there is life, then why has no one ever come back from there? Delivery is the end of life, and in the after-delivery, there is nothing but darkness and silence and oblivion. It takes us nowhere.”

“Well, I don’t know,” said the second, “but certainly we will meet Mother and she will take care of us.”

The first replied “Mother? You actually believe in Mother? That’s laughable. If Mother exists then where is She now?”

The second said, “She is all around us. We are surrounded by her. We are of Her. It is in Her that we live. Without Her, this world would not and could not exist.”

Said the first: “Well I don’t see Her, so it is only logical that She doesn’t exist.”

To which the second replied, “Sometimes, when you’re in silence and you focus and listen, you can perceive Her presence, and you can hear Her loving voice, calling down from above.”

Maybe this was one of the best SIMPLE explanations of the concept of GOD.

Enjoy every sandwich

When legendary musician Warren Zevon was dying of terminal Lung cancer at the age of 52, he appeared on the David Letterman’s talk show and Letterman asked him, what he had learned about life. You know, what were Zevon’s parting words? Looking straight through the camera lens into every soul watching, he just said, *“Enjoy every sandwich.”*

Oh, how we neglect the simple magic of each day in hot pursuit of the trinkets and fascinations that our culture sells us, as the gateways into happiness and inner peace. But, They are not.

FFA (Fame, Fortune and Applause) will never bring you the sustained riches that JPF (Joy, Peace and Freedom) will allow.

Real satisfaction and true tranquillity arise from savouring the basic blessings that hide in plain sight.

“Enjoy every sandwich.” Please don’t wait until your deathbed to appreciate all the gifts that surround you. They are there in greater abundance than you know, just pleading for your attention.
We sometimes get so wrapped up in our business that we risk losing our grip on the things that really matter: health, happiness and those who love us.
“Enjoy every sandwich” was Zevonese for “Slow down the speed of life! Listen to a bird! Smell a rose! Hug your loved ones!”
Surviving these Covid induced tough economic times is important, but not at the expense of love. Financial security is a good thing, but it’s not more important than health. And all the credentials in the world can’t begin to move the scales when weighed against having joy in your life and spending quality time with loved ones.

Warren was lucky; he knew how much time he had left. We don’t. Write this on a rock...Life is short! Enjoy every sandwich.

Water of the Well

Once, the public jury in a village (panchayat) gathered to resolve a problem. At some distance, a saint had set up his abode. When the public jury could not reach any decision, someone suggested that they should consult the saint for the solution of their problem.

They all went to the saint. Seeing so many of them, the saint asked them what was the matter. The villagers replied, "Mahatma ji, there is only one well in the village and we cannot drink water from that well."

The saint asked, "why, what happened? Why can't you drink water from it?"

The villagers replied, "three dogs were fighting with each other and fell into the well. Then they could not come out, and drowned in the well and died. Now the water stinks badly, how can we drink that water?"

The saint said, "do one thing, pour holy Ganga river water in the well."
So, eight to ten buckets of Ganges water were poured into the well, yet the problem remained as it is. People again reached the saint.

The saint said, "ok, so all of you gather in prayer and chant the name of God." People said okay. They did as instructed, but still the problem remained the same.

People again went back to the saint. This time the saint said, "get some fragrant substances put in the well." So, this was also done, but the problem still persisted.

Now the saint himself came to the well. People said, "Look Sir, the situation is still the same. We have tried everything now, got the holy Ganga water poured, got the prayers and chants done, distributed _prasad_ , put fragrant flowers and substances in the well - everything!"

The saint asked with a puzzled look, "You have done everything, but have you removed the three dogs that had fallen and died in this well?"

The villagers said, "well, you did not ask us to do that, and neither did we take them out. We did everything else, but the dogs are still in the well."

The saint was shocked at first, but then he calmly explained to the villagers that, "until the three dead bodies lying in the water are taken out, no external measures will have any effect. First you have to take out that dirt from the water."

*Moral :*

*Similar is the story of our life too. In our village-like body, there is a well of conscience, where many animals named lust, anger, greed, jealousy have fallen in their fight, and are stuck like termites. They are slowly eating away our conscience from inside. Now, the matter to think about is, what are we doing to get out of this rot?*

*We take in a lot of new things from the outside to enhance our lives, but what are we doing to eliminate what is already rotting or accumulating inside? Let us first get rid of them and then see the beauty of this world and celebrate abundance of Joy & Happiness*

God was good to me everyday

John D Rockfeller was once the richest man in the world. The first billionaire in the world.

By age 25, he controlled one of the largest oil refineries in the US.

By age 31, he had become the world’s largest oil refiner.

By age 38. he commanded 90% of the oil refined in the US.

By 50, he was the richest man in the country.

By the time he died, he had become the richest man in the world.

As a young man, every decision, attitude and relationship was tailored to create his personal power and wealth.

But at the age of 53, he became ill.

His entire body became racked with pain and he lost all of his hair. In complete agony, the world’s only billionaire could buy anything he wanted, but he could only digest soup and crackers.

An associate wrote, "He could not sleep, would not smile and nothing in life meant anything to him."

His personal, highly skilled physicians predicted he would die within a year.

That year passed agonisingly slowly.

As he approached death, he awoke one morning with the vague realisation of not being able to take any of his wealth with him into the next world.

The man who could control the business world suddenly realised he was not in control of his own life.

He was left with a choice.

He called his attorneys, accountants and managers and announced that he wanted to channel his assets to hospitals, research and charity work.

John D. Rockefeller established his Foundation.

This new direction eventually led to the discovery of penicillin, cures for malaria, tuberculosis and diphtheria.

But perhaps the most amazing part of Rockefeller’s story is that the moment he began to give back a portion of all that he had earned, his body’s chemistry was altered so significantly that he got better.

It looked as if he would die at 53 but he lived to be 98.

Rockefeller learned gratitude and gave back the vast majority of his wealth.

Doing so made him whole. It is one thing to be healed. It is another to be made whole.

Before his death, he wrote this in his dairy:

"The Supreme Energy taught me that everything belongs to Him, and I am only a channel to comply with his wishes. My life has been one long, happy holiday, full of work and full of play. I dropped the worry on the way and God was good to me everyday!"

Concentrate on the beauty of your behavior more than the beauty of your face and body

In a meeting, Guru ji asked a 30-year-old youth to stand up during his discourse.

 - You are walking on Juhu Chowpatty in Mumbai and a beautiful girl is coming from the front, so what will you do?

The young man said - She will be seen, and he will start seeing her personality.

Guru ji asked - After that girl has moved forward, so will you look back too?

The boy said - yes, if my wife is not with me . (everyone laughs in the meeting)

Guru ji again asked - Tell me how long will you remember that beautiful face?

The young man said May be for 5 - 10 minutes, until another beautiful face appears.

Guru ji said to the young man - now just imagine.. you are going from Jaipur to Mumbai and I gave you a packet of books and said that this packet should be delivered to such a great person in Mumbai...

You went to his house in Mumbai to deliver the packets.

When you saw his house, you came to know that he is a billionaire.

10 vehicles are parked in the porch of his bunglow and 5 watchmen are standing outside the house.

You sent the information of Your arrival alongwith the packet , then that gentleman himself came out and greeted you .

He Took the packet from you. Then when you started to return leave the place , you were requested very humbly by him to come inside his home. He sat beside you and fed You hot food.

While you wer returning , He asked you - how have you come to my house ?
You said - in the local train.

He asked his driver to take you to your destination and as soon as you were about to reach your place, that billionaire dignitary made a call to you and asked - Brother, Have you reached comfortably..!!

Now tell me how long will you remember those great man?

The young man said - Guruji! I will never forget that person in my life, till I die in life.

Addressing the gathering through the youth, Guru Ji said - "This is the reality of life."

" *Beautiful face is remembered for a short time, but beautiful behavior is remembered for life*."

That's the guru mantra of life... Concentrate on the beauty of your behavior more than the beauty of your face and body. Life will become enjoyable for yourself and unforgettable inspirational for others..

Break the shackles with power of Belief & Celebrate Abundance

A gentleman was walking through an elephant camp, and he spotted that the elephants weren’t being kept in cages or held by the use of chains.

All that was holding them back from escaping the camp, was a small piece of rope tied to one of their legs.

As the man gazed upon the elephants, he was completely confused as to why the elephants didn’t just use their strength to break the rope and escape the camp. They could easily have done so, but instead, they didn’t try to at all

Curious and wanting to know the answer, he asked a trainer nearby why the elephants were just standing there and never tried to escape.

The trainer replied;
“when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”

The only reason that the elephants weren’t breaking free and escaping from the camp was that over time they adopted the belief that it just wasn’t possible.

*Moral :*
*No matter how much the world tries to hold you back, always continue with the belief that what you want to achieve is possible. Believing you can become successful is the most important step in actually achieving it…

What is the essential mindset needed to be successful?

In the Indian Epic Mahabharata, there is an incident mentioned.

Let me tell you that.

A race was organised between Kauravas and Pandavas. The strongest kaurava of all was “Duryodhan” and the strongest pandava of all was “Bheem”.

Now, when the race started, both Duryodhan and Bheem started running at an equal pace but after a few seconds, Bheem got ahead of Duryodhan. Seeing Bheem getting ahead, Duryodhana increased his pace but was unable to match the Bheem’s pace.

Suddenly, this evil though crossed Duryodhana’s mind,

“If I will trip him, he will fall and I will win the race!”

And he did that same! Bheem fell down and Duryodhana took the lead. But after a few seconds, Bheem matched up to him, then took the lead and finally won the race!

After the race was over, Duryodhana went to Bheeshm Pitamaah and this conversation happened between them,

Duryodhana: Sir, why did I lost to Bheem in the race today?

Bheeshma: I will answer it comprehensively now.

See, both of you are equally powerful and hence the end result of the race should have been both of your crossing the finishing line together. And that was happening in the initial few seconds of the race too when both of you were racing at the same pace.

Duryodhana: Yes, and then suddenly I saw Bheem getting ahead of me. Why did that happen?

Bheeshma: Exactly, you saw Bheem getting ahead itself means that you initially were focused on the finishing line but after a few seconds into the race, you got this fear that Bheem might get ahead of you and hence you started focusing on him instead of the finishing line an hence he got ahead!

Duryodhana: But I made him trip and he fell down! Still, how did he managed to win?

Bheeshma: Yes, you made it even worse for yourself when you trip him down! Since he fell down, he became even more determined and focused to win the race than before as he was lagging behind. So, he unleashed his full power and potential to win the race!

This is the essential mindset needed to become successful. Just focus on what you want to do and leave all the distraction behind. You will automatically win one day.

Instead of shortening someones’ line, lengthen your line to win at life.

Be grateful for your blessings

A man was travelling in a boat with his monkey.

There was also a philosopher with other passengers in that boat.

The monkey had never travelled in a boat before, so it was not feeling comfortable.

It was going up and down, not letting anyone sit in peace.

The boatman was troubled by this and was concerned that the boat would sink due to the panic of the passengers.

If the monkey doesn't calm down it will drown the boat.

The man was upset about the situation, but could not find any way to calm the monkey.

The philosopher watched all this and decided to help.

He said: " If you allow, I can make this monkey as quiet as a house cat."

The man immediately agreed.

The philosopher, with the help of two passengers, picked up the monkey and threw it into the river.

The monkey started to swim desperately to stay afloat.

It was now dying and struggled for its life.

After some time, the philosopher dragged the monkey back into the boat.

The monkey was quiet and went and sat in a corner.

The man and all passengers were surprised at the changed behaviour of the monkey.

The man asked the philosopher: "At first it was jumping up and down. Now it is sitting like a pet cat. Why?"

The Philosopher said: "No one realises the misfortune of another without tasting trouble. When I threw this monkey into the water, it understood the power of the water and the usefulness of the boat."
Appreciate your good fortune and be grateful for your blessings.
Don't wait to be dumped in the water to understand the power of your blessings & stay blessed forever.
