Day 31
You cannot take credit that for doing this or that, you could get the company of the Divine, the Guru, or an Enlightened One. Even that is bestowed on you unconditionally. It has not come to you on your merits. You have done nothing to deserve it.
Don’t think you deserve it. “Oh, I did this, this, this, I deserve this.” You don't. It is not coming to you because you deserve it. It is coming because of their Grace, because of their love for you. Between him and his people there is no difference-like a mother defends a child, like a father defends his son or daughter.
If someone fights with a young child, what do the parents say? “Why do you blame them?” They take it on themselves. If your Beloved is blamed, you take the blame on yourself. If your Beloved is praised, you enjoy that praise. You think that you are being praised. In the same way, adoring the Divine is the same as adoring his people.
There is no difference, no division between the Divine and his people, between him and those who are go and sit with some friends, talk to them, discuss your problems and when you go away from them you feel lighter, feeling all your negativity is just an illusion. That is being in good company. It is easy to get into bad company.
There are people who fuel negativity. You say this is hopeless, they say, “Yes, yes, it is not hopeless, it is horrible.” That is bad company, yes? In good company when you discuss your problems you move away from them feeling lighter, feeling that the problem is really not that big, it is nothing, it can be solved.
By all means, shun bad company. Because it is the company that you keep that builds you up. What does bad company do? It creates feverishness and obsession in you, brings in you more and more desires, more lust, anger and delusion. Then finally you find yourself in a big soup-so far from love. It is like concrete negativity, frustration personified and that is bad company.
