*Chapter 3 - Self Discovery*
*Day 10*
Truth is that which is not affected by the three times - past, present, and future. The world is not true because the world is affected by time. Our perception is affected by time and space.
So perception is not true. All that you perceive in the world around you is not truth. One stroke its all gone - your means of perception is not faulty.
When someone asks you to tell the truth, you just smile. Tell the truth? Truth is unlimited - not limited by time.
I was accused of telling lies when I was a child because I used to say "I have my family people in America. One summer I will go there."
Which summer it didn't strike me. My friends believed me a couple of times, but then they found out I have nobody in America.
My mother would get angry at me and say, "You are lying. "Why are you lying? You never tell lies, otherwise just this one lie".
I was bewildered. I didn't know what to say. It felt very right and true for me to say I am going to America. In those days it was very difficult to go to America.
From where I was hardly anybody went to America, and here I am announcing to my friends again and again. It was a lie, and it was not.
I knew I was not telling a lie, but I couldn't convince anybody that I was not lying, including my mother. She was so annoyed with me.
She said, "You are telling a lie to your friends" She was a woman of perfection. Truth is that which is not affected by time, yesterday's reality is false today, and today's reality never existed yesterday, and it may not exist tomorrow.
If you call someone stupid that is not true because tomorrow they may turn out to be very intelligent. Whomsoever you called very successful yesterday, you don't know what they will be tomorrow.
They may be miserable or one who was miserable may be doing well now. Everything changes. Everything changes, but what is truth?
That is what this journey is: what is truth? Who is that which you can call as true? What is this consciousness which is behind everything?
Behind the whole existence? Is God somebody in heaven pointing at finger at you and sitting and counting what mistakes you did and trying to give you punishment?
Is God somebody who is going to get angry at the drop of the hat at all mistakes you do? Upanishad says No. God is not somebody, a person.
