Many had experienced enlightenment, but only a few could express it, only a few could properly express it. And among those who could express it, only a few could communicate or transfer that experience. Janaka speaks about what everyone has termed to be something which words cannot describe. He is expressing the inexpressible; breaking through a dimension, revealing a mystery; the state of enlightenment.
рдк्рд░рдХृрдд्рдпा рд╢ूрди्рдпрдЪिрдд्рддो । In an earlier chapter, we saw the relevance of mood-making. In this chapter Janaka talks about how one kind of mood-making removes another. And by your very nature, you become clear. You become empty. рдк्рд░рдХृрдд्рдпा рд╢ूрди्рдпрдЪिрдд्рддो рдпः рдк्рд░рдоाрджाрдж्рднाрд╡рднाрд╡рдиः । By your very nature, you are empty; hollow and empty. But the three gunas reel in us. When sattvaguna arises, knowledge and joy dawns and you become happy. You feel nice and wonderful. When rajogun arises, desires, craving and restlessness arise. These are the three manifestations of rajogun i.e. desire, craving, and restlessness. And also the feeling of greed; of wanting more and more. And when tamogun arises, you want to sleep. There is lethargy, attachment, and dejection. Mistakes take place in tamogun. The mind says doing something is wrong, but because of tamogun, you go ahead and make the mistake of doing it.
These three gunas reign on their own. Sattva dominates, then tamogun dominates, and then rajogun dominates. They have their turn. They come and go by their turn, and nothing remains the same.
Nobody can sleep forever, can they? That is being dead, but even they cannot! The body is dead, but that person comes back again. No one can sleep forever. In the same way, no one can be active forever. And no one can be alert and be in knowledge forever. One of them dominates, and then it diminishes. рдк्рд░рдоाрджाрдж्рднाрд╡рднाрд╡рдиः । Inside when it is hollow and empty, fourth dimension comes wherein a continuous joy exists. Awareness exists. A continuous awareness is there. This is different from knowledge.
