There is a proverb in Hindi. Ek hi saadhe sab sadhe, sab saadhe sab jaye. It points out that if you do one thing you will achieve perfection and everything will come to you; follow you. But if you try to do everything, they will go away from you. If you do one thing - perfection in the being - then everything else gets perfected. If you bring perfection in your love, in your service, in your being, then everything will come to you. You may know nothing about civil engineering or architecture, but you will be able to give guidance to very experienced civil engineers. You may know nothing about cooking, but you will be able to create recipes that will amaze, and be appreciated by even the best cooks. You may know nothing about accountancy but you will be able to give guidance to accountants.
All these abilities in you are your subsidiaries. They just flower. When the source is attended to, all your other abilities flower automatically and spontaneously. All abilities come together naturally.
Consider a mistake as just a mistake - not as 'mine' or 'his'. 'Mine' brings guilt, and 'his' brings anger. A mistake is a mistake. Neither guilt nor anger need to be linked to it. Then, you'll stop a lot of nonsense from happening.
Firstly, you will stop justifying a mistake as not being a mistake (and not your mistake). Secondly, you will stop accusing someone else. Thirdly, you will have the patience to listen to someone telling you that you made a mistake! It is not easy. Usually, when people see something wrong, they keep it to themselves and don't express it out of politeness. Some may mention it diplomatically with the intention to improve you. They will tell you about your mistake, and you will not feel bad about it. You will give them a patient hearing, because you won't think of it as "mine". And you will not say that you do not care because it is someone else's mistake. You will not become careless because you think it is someone else's.
Someone might ask, what if they think it's your mistake and want you to suffer for it? I just say if you do not suffer from it, they will start suffering! Whatever you want for others, will happen to you. So, if they want you to suffer, but you smile, they will suffer. You become compassionate.
