1. For the description of the 12 factors DOSHA, BHAISHAJA, DESHA, KAALA, BALA, SHARIRA, SAARA, AAHAARA, SAATMYA, SATVA, PRAKRITI and VAYA – description of DOSHA and BHAISHAJA has been started in chapter first.
2. BHAISHAJA to be interpreted by various factors like RASA, GUNA, VIRYA, VIPAK PRABHAAVA – in the start RASA has been described and its relationship with DRAVYA, and in context of VYAADHI – description of DOSHA has been given as well as the relation of DOSHA and VYADHI has been enumerated. Two rules have been said to understand such relationships.
3. RULE 1 – PRAKRITISAM SAMVETA – in this the action of the DRAVYA IS in line with the RASA, GUNA, VIRYA AND VIPAAK – e.g. wheat has MADHUR RASA, MADHUR, VIPAAKA, GURU GUNA, SHEETA VIRYA – result in growth of the body
4. RULE 2 – VIKRITIVISHAMA SAMVETA – in this the action of the DRAVYA is not in line with RASA, GUNA, VIRYA, VIPAAKA e.g. PIPPALI is KATU RASA, USHNA VIRYA, MADHUR VIPAAKA – here MADHUR VIPAAKA is not in line with other but is dominant thus the VRISHYA effect is manifested due to MADHUR VIPAAKA in spite of the KATU RAS AND USHNA VIRYA.
5. The examples of TAILAADI and PIPPALI AADI have been described as an example to describe these two rules.
6. The relationship of RASAADI with DRAVYA has to be understood based on these 2 rules.
7. Similarly the relationship of the DOSHA and the VYAADHI should be understood on the bases of these two rules.
8. The concept of PRABHAVA applies when the actions of the DRAVYA are not being able to be explained based on the above 2 rules. The description of the PRABHAAVA will be dealt elsewhere.
9. While describing the PIPPALI AADI DRAVYAS which should not be taken in excess – it is necessary to quit that habit and for that purpose the concept of SAATMYA has been given.
