Lord Shiva is one of the Trimurti Gods of Hinduism who is widely worshipped by Hindus all around the world. Millions of devotees visit the various temples of Lord Shiva throughout the year, in the hope of seeking his powerful blessings.
There are many interesting legends linked to Lord Shiva within the pages of Hindu mythology that are quite remarkable and fascinating even to this day. Let us look at why Lord Shiva is one of the easiest Gods to please.
Lord Shiva –The Kindest Of The Gods
1. Lord Shiva is popularly known as the Lord of destruction in Hindu mythology. He destroys the universe which is preserved by Vishnu and sets the stage for the process of re-creation by Brahma.
2. But Lord Shiva is a lot more than the ender of evil and the eternal destroyer. He is actually quite kind and benevolent as is evident from scriptures like the Puranas and the Upanishads.
3. Lord Shiva is a God who was equally revered by the Gods and Asuras. Anyone who performed strict penance with the goal of pleasing Lord Shiva and was successful gained boons from him. It often left the other Gods worried when the demons gained boons from Shiva.
4. The actual vision of Lord Shiva and the magnitude of his greatness is beyond our imagination. Together with Lord Vishnu, he creates illusions to teach important lessons to mankind. The boastful demons who gained boons from Shiva, misused their powers and were ultimately defeated or killed by either Vishnu or Shiva.
5. It is quite easy to please Lord Shiva and gain his blessings. A person who prays with a pure heart and a clear conscience can gain Shiva’s special favor in their life. Chanting his mantras offers protection from evils and obstacles. One can even gain Moksha or salvation by praying to Lord Shiva.
6. Lord Shiva is extremely generous and is mindful of the desires of his devotees. His generosity can help people absolve the sins of their past lives and the Maha Mrityunjaya mantra even has the power to bring people back from the verge of death.
7. Even during the incident of Samudra Manthan when the entire universe was in danger of being poisoned by the poison Halahala, Lord Shiva drank it up and saved everyone. His throat turned blue from the poison and he earned the praise of all the other Gods, who were quite grateful.
