Siddhas regarded vallarai as belonging to the group of herbs that help maintain youthful vigour and strength.

It improves mind's receptivity. It can improve a person's memory power, strength, voice, complexion and digestive power.
The herb can be made into different types of sauce and consumed by people with diabetes. It is also useful for people with anemia.
Vallarai has been studied extensively. The plant can be found on the banks of streams and ponds and near rice fields in tropical country.
The leaves can be dried and powdered. A half teaspoon of the powder mixed with honey can be taken daily as a general tonic for adults and can boost up memory power in natural way.
Vallarai keerai is not a favorite green for many as it is not quite palatable. So, it is not widely available like other keerai varieties in small shops. Arai keerai, Ponnanganni keerai, siru keerai, palak keerai and vendhaya keerai are widely used as we can make some good tasty dishes. But it is nice to consider adding vallarai keerai/Brahmi leaves to you in your diet as it has a lot of health benefits. If you are a mom of school or college going children, you should definitely consider it as it is a good and natural brain booster.
Vallarai Keerai in different languages:
Botanical Name of Vallarai Keerai is Centella Asiatica. People refer it as Centella and gotu kola commonly. It is called as Asiatic pennywort or Indian pennywort. It is called as brahmi booti in Hindi, Brahmi in Marathi, saraswati aku in Telugu, kudangal in Malayalam, ondelaga in Kannada, Vallarai keerai in Tamil.
Vallarai Keerai Recipes:
It is difficult to make yummy recipes with vallarai keerai. You can make soup or juice from Vallarai Keerai. You can take fresh juice by crushing vallarai keerai and add it in your daily cup of tea. These are some of the easiest ways you can have brahmin leaves. The next easy recipe is Vallarai keitai thuvaiyal. It can be made with or without coconut. Adding Bengal gram and urad dal makes is palatable.
You can make vallarai keerai sambar, vallarai keerai kootu also. I will post those recipes soon.
An easy way to add Brahmi to ur diet is to have it as vallarai keerai chutney with curd rice. You can easily consume a lot when compared with having as a side dish for idli or dosa.
Vallarai Keerai/Brahmi leaves for memory power:
When it comes to increasing memory power naturally, vallarai keerai is the first herb that comes in everyone's mind. With its Nitric acid, it helps to increase the memory and concentration power as it is very beneficial for your brain. Including vallarai in your diet at least twice a week, you can realize the difference in your memory power.
Vallarai Keerai/Brahmi Leaves for hair and skin problems:
Hair fall, premature greying, hair thinning are some of the problems which can be cured by regular intake of vallarai keerai. Regular intake of vallarai keerai can be helpful for treating skin disorders like eczema and psoriasis.
Vallarai Keerai/Brahmi Leaves for stomach problems, stress and depression:
Stomach upset, diarrhoea and indigestion problems can be treated by consuming vallarai keerai.
Brahmi is good for curing stress and other depression problems. Some depressions cannot be avoided like post natal depression. But you can handle it effectively by adding brahmi leaves in your diet. People also suggests it for controlling our own mind.
