Opposite values co-exist here. That makes this world. A circle cannot be made with only one point. It needs two points. A diameter cannot be made with only one point. A line cannot be made with one point. It needs diametrically opposite ends. рдПрдХ рдПрд╡ рднрд╡ाрдо्рднोрдзाрд╡ा । There is only one universe. Don't think there are two different universe. There are no two separate places - heaven and hell. It is all one, and it is in your mind. Nowhere else! You are hell and you are heaven. Vedic pujas, have an atma puja or worshiping the being one Self. All the nature is in the Self and hell and heaven is in the mind. Your Self means the mind. When the mind is closed, it is hell. When the mind is open and reposing in the Being, it is heaven.
When I was in the USA, the parents of one of our participants met me. The mother asked me to tell her what it is like an heaven. She said that she was going there, and wanted to know what it was like. She wanted to know if the place was comfortable, and what all you get there. The lady wanted to know these things very seriously and seemed very anxious about them. I asked her how she was sure she was going only to heaven. It may be some other place. This lady, a staunch Catholic, said that she had devoted and dedicated her life to Jesus. So her place was reserved there. She was not worried about where she was going. Their church priest had assured her that her seat was reserved in heaven. She was just concerned about what it would be like there. Would there be mosquitoes there? Would she have to take a mosquito net? I didn't know whether to laugh or cry! The person was seriously asking these questions fully believing that it is so!
Ek eva bhavam. It is all one world,one universe. Do not think you are going to change the whole world. With this thing in your mind that you are trying to change the whole world you may be trying to change the people around you. Whether you succeed or not in this, one thing is sure that you will get frustrated after some time! And you will change (maybe for the worse). рдПрдХ рдПрд╡ рднрд╡ाрдо्рднोрдзा । The world has been like this. It will be like this. And, in the future,the same world will be there. The same universe, the same things and the same people will be there. Do not try to change the people around you. You may wonder why they are the way they are. They should be nice to you. You think that you cannot let them be that way and that you would teach a proper lesson. That they'll remember for the rest of their life!
Relax! Drop it! The world has been like that. рди рддे рдмрди्рдзोрд╜рд╕्рддि рдоोрдХ्рд╖ो рд╡ा рдХृрддрдХृрдд्рдпः рд╕ुрдЦं рдЪрд░ ॥ But, remember you are not bound. You are not bound to anything. You are free. Your freedom is related to your bondage. So you are neither free nor are you bound. Thinking that you are free implies that you were bound in the past. And feeling that you are bound implies that you were free sometimes ago. This is just a temporary sort of thing; an alternating state. The feeling of bondage or freedom is another illusion in your mind. Many people say that they feel so bound being in the ashram with all the rules and regulations; that they feel like running away. Even if you run away somewhere, do you think you will have freedom there? This is an illusion. Wanting freedom is an illusion, and the feeling of bondage is another illusion. It is all in your mind because you want a change. You want to change the world. You want to change the situation. You want to change people. You don't want to change your attitude. You want to change everything but yourself, your mind, and your outlook.
Ashtavakra says that it is stupid to want liberation and it is foolish to think that you are bound. It is foolish to think that you are unenlightened, and it is foolish to think that you want enlightenment.
