Ashtavakra says these are the causes of your bondage. When you do good to people,do it out of your nature. Forget about it how they behave and their reaction towards you. It's up to them. Let them carry their cross. Keep your mind free. If there is dust on your tables and your windows, you clean the place. You clean your tables and windows. You wash your clothes. But you forget to wash your mind. We don't ever clean it, and years and years of dust accumulates on it. Nothing from the day before should stick on it. It should always be dusted - new, free and clean! That is freedom.
You are in bondage when you have a certain viewpoint that you're stuck with. You have certain ideas and concepts of how things should be, and they don't always coincide with the creation and how things happen. Then you are stuck. You are cooking now, wrestling inside with your ideas and concepts. This is not right. That is not right. They did not conduct the meditation properly. They did not do the pranayam properly. Those people are not keeping silence. And this person is not caring for others. And that person is talking loudly.
What is happening? You are spoiling your silence. You just want a hanger to hang on the complaining or restless nature of the mind. So you hang it onto this thing or that thing. And this is more common during silence, because it comes up from somewhere. You are doing lots of meditation, and it is very obvious during silence that such things happen.
เคคเคฆा เคฎोเค्เคทो เคฏเคฆा เคिเคค्เคคเคฎเคธเค्เคคं เคธเคฐ्เคตเคฆृเคท्เคिเคทु । It is a bondage if the mind gets interested or stuck in anything seen outside in the creation. When the mind does not get stuck in anything it sees, smells, hears, tastes,or feels, in that space it doesn't get stuck with any one aspect or direction. People usually consider this asakti as disinterest. But that is not right. Involvement in the scene of the seer (the one who sees) and getting lost in the scenes outside is the cause of bondage. The mind is free when it does not get lost in this way.

The sense of 'I, my, mine' is the cause of bondage. Liberation comes when this sense is dissolved. You cannot be bound for twenty four hours so you go to sleep. In sleep you lose the sense of 'I, my, mine.' When you are sleeping what and where are you? You lose your name and identity. You don't even know that your body is lying on the bed. You lose every identity. You cannot say that it is Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's sleep and no one can take it. Sleep is sleep. There is no Sri Sri and no Ravi Shankar. Nobody is there - no name and no form. Just sleep. Consciously being aware, dissolving the 'I' in me; when 'I' ceases to exist, that is freedom; that is liberation.
