Wake up and see the truth of life. What are you hanging on to? What breaks your heart? Someone’s behavior? Someone’s words? Weakness of the heart should be shunned and truth needs to be known. What is truth? 

Everything in the world is changing. Has changed, will change in the future. And you are going to drop your own body which you love so much. You want to move your hand, you cannot move, you want to lift your eyes, you cannot, you want to say something, you cannot move your tongue. Your whole body will strike and then you will simply have to exit out of this body, You exit dejected and frustrated because your body is totally rebellious to your commands. And the body will not listen to what you say.

As long as you’re alive, wake up and do something good. Forget about it. Be bold, courageous. Don’t get stuck with the behavior of people. You needed it. It makes you strong. Be like a lion. Roar like a lion. Joy comes and goes, misery comes and goes. The Pleasure you are hanging on to cannot stay forever, cannot sustain you all the time. So pleasure and pain comes and goes in life. What is the big deal in a broken heart.

Know that you love everyone and everyone loves you and never doubt in the love. Its like something like space. It cannot diminish, it cannot go away. That’s true love. . Don’t waste your precious life in all the unwanted thoughts of your mind. If your limb is broken you can put a plaster. Your heart gets broken, you wake up and it’s never broken, its rubber. Make your heart like rubber, not glass. Glass can break in heat or cold. Make it elastic like rubber. 

With knowledge and awareness, transform your mind and your actions. Feel grateful to be in this knowledge.

I am not liking this behavior of mine. How can I overcome this?

Question - Gurudev, due to some hurt l've been abusing and cursing God. I've always been a Divine loving person and I am not liking this behavior of mine. How can I overcome this?

Gurudev Sri Sri - Never mind. If you curse the Divine it is not going to react to you. Don't worry, it's the safest! Otherwise if you get angry with somebody, they will take revenge on you. This is the beauty of astrology. Astrology tells you that you are suffering because this planet is in this position. How can you get angry with a planet? So your mind, your anger, your frustration, and the cause of you unhappiness is given a bigger cosmic dimension. The cosmic dimension gives the much needed calmness and that strength which you need to face a tough situation. What you really need in a tough situation is inner strength and inner calmness. That inner strength comes to you with this understanding.

Out of the three doshas : vata, pitta and kapha, which prakriti is good for doing meditation?

Gurudev Sri Sri - By doing meditation you can go beyond all the three doshas (imbalances in the body): Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Meditation is the destroyer of all the three doshas. If you first do meditation and then check your naadi (pulse), you will see that it has changed. If there is equilibrium (sama-dosha) between these prakriti then that is suitable for doing meditation. If you are healthy then your meditation will be deeper and by doing meditation your health improves. Both these things are there.

PCOD किंवा PCOS म्हणजे काय ?

सध्याच्या धकाधकीच्या जीवनात ready to cook food, junk food, व्यायामाचा अभाव यामुळे मुलींमध्ये / स्त्रियांमध् पाळीच्या समस्या अधिक प्रमाणात दिसून येत आहेत. त्यातील प्रमुख समस्या म्हणजे Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCC किंवा Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). तर हे PCOD किंवा PCOS म्हणजे काय? ते जाणून घेऊया.

या विकारात गभर्भाशयाचा भाग असलेले अंडाशय येथे cyst म्हणजे एखा‌द्या पाण्याच्या बुडबुड्‌याप्रमाणे गाठी तयार होतात अंडाशय अनेक follicles निमर्माण करत असते, त्यातील एक follicle मोठे होऊन, फुटून त्यातून बीजांड बाहेर पडत असते. र शरीरात ही प्रक्रिया दरमहा होत असते. परंतु या प्रक्रियेत बिघाड झाल्यास एक बीजांड मोठे न होता अनेक लान follicles होतात व कालांतराने त्यांचे cyst मध्ये रूपांतर होते. असे अनेक cyst तयार होणे म्हणजे PCOD / PCOS होय

PCOD किंवा PCOS होण्याची कारणे कोणती?

1. कोरडे अन्न, वेफर्स, फरसाण यासारख्या कोरड्या म्हणजे रूक्ष पदाभीचे सतत सेवन करणे. यामुळे शरीरात सात दोष वाढ

2. चायनीज पदार्थ, आंबवलेले पदार्थ, preservatives असलेले पदार्थ यामुळे शरीरात वाढणारे पित. 3. जेवणाच्या वेळा न पाळणे, सतत रात्री जागरण यामुळे खाल्लेल्या अन्नाचे पचन न होता ते शरीराल तसेच पाचित अ

राहणे.

4. सतत काहीतरी खात राहण्याची सवय असल्याने अन्नपचन व्यवस्थित होत नाही. परिणामी अजीर्ण होत राहण 5. अपाचित अन्न शरीरात साठून राहिल्याने तसेच व्यायामाचा अभाव, दिवसा झोपणे अशा सवयी असल्यास वजन वाढण

obesity (स्थूलपणा) निमोण होते. 6. स्थूलपणा निर्माण झाल्यामुळे विशेषतः ओटीपोटावरील मेद वाढल्यानंतर पाळीच्या तक्रारीही वाढत जातात, कारण त गभर्भाशयाच्या कार्यक्षमतेवर होत असतो.

7. वरील आहाराचे सेवन, व्यायामाचा अभाव व स्थूलपणा यामुळे PCOS सारखे विकार निर्माण होतात

सध्याच्या जीवनशैलीतील बदलामुळे अभ्यास, करियर तसेच अनेक ताणतणाव याना सामोर जाताना आरोग्यावर यांचा परिणाम होतो.

PCOD किंवा PCOS मुळे शरीरात कोणते बदल घडतात?-

PCOD मुळे शरीरातील संप्रेरके म्हणजे हॉर्मोन्स यांच्या स्त्रवणावर परिणाम होतो. त्यामुळे पुढील लक्षणे दिसून येतात. 1. पाळी अनियमितपणे येणे दर महिन्याला ऋतुचक्क ज्याप्रमाणे 28 दिवसांचे असते महिना, दीड महिना वा त्याहूनही अधिक कालावधी च्या अंतराने पाळी येणे.

उच्च रक्तदाबाचे दुष्परिणाम

*उच्च रक्तदाबाचे दुष्परिणाम*
१) हृदयाची अकार्यक्षमता :
उच्च रक्तदाब असलेल्या व्यक्तीच्या हृदयाला काम करण्यास खूप कष्ट करावे लागतात. त्यामुळे हृदय मोठे आणि जाड होऊ शकते. त्याची कार्यक्षमता कमी कमी होत जाते. त्यामुळे हृदयाचे पंपिंग कमी होते. याला ‘हार्ट फेल्युअर’ (HEART FAILURE) असे म्हणतात.
उच्च रक्तदाबाच्या रोग्यांत हृदयाच्या विकाराने मृत्यू पावलेल्यांचे प्रमाण सामान्य लोकांपेक्षा चारपट अधिक आहे. उच्च रक्दाबाच्या रुग्णांना हृदयशूळ (ANGINA) आणि हृदयविकाराचा झटका येण्याचे प्रमाणसुद्धा जास्त असते.
२) मूत्रपिंडावर परिणाम : 
उच्च रक्तदाब जर अधिक काळापासून असेल तर अशा रुग्णांचे मूत्रपिंड हळूहळू निकामी होऊ शकते. मूत्रपिंडातील रक्तशुद्धीचे काम व्यवस्थित होत नाही. परिणामत: शरीरात मीठ आणि इतर व्यर्जित पदार्थाचा भरणा होतो. त्यामुळे हातापायाला सूज, चेहऱ्यावर सूज येते.
३) इतर दुष्परिणाम :
अति उच्च रक्तदाबामुळे डोक्यातील रक्तवाहिन्या फुटून मेंदूमध्ये रक्तस्राव होऊ शकतो. तसेच डोळ्याच्या पडद्यावर रक्तस्राव होऊन दृष्टिदोष होऊ शकतो.
उच्च रक्तदाबामुळे काही रोग्यांच्या महारोहिणीचा (AORTA) काही भाग अति पातळ होतो. हा पातळ भाग आतल्या किंवा बाहेरील बाजूस फुगू शकतो किंवा फुटूपण शकतो. (DISSECTING ANEURYSM), ही अत्यंत भयावह अवस्था असून कधी कधी यात मृत्यूही येऊ शकतो. रक्तदाब उच्च झाला आणि तो नीटपणे आटोक्यात राहिला नाही तर जीवनमर्यादापण कमी होऊ शकते.
अति रक्तदाबाचे निदान (DIAGNOSIS)
अति रक्तदाबाचे निदान करण्यासाठी व्यवस्थित मोजणे आवश्यक असते. रक्तदाब मोजण्याच्या आधी एक तास रुग्णाने कॉफी-चहासारखी उत्तेजके घेऊ नयेत, धूम्रपान करू नये किंवा अशा प्रकारची औषधे टाळावीत ज्यांनी रक्तदाब वाढतो.
रक्तदाब मोजताना रुग्ण हा पूर्णपणे रिलॅक्स (निश्चिंत) असावा. रक्तदाब एका डॉक्टरच्या भेटीमध्ये दोनदा मोजावा, म्हणजे तपासणीच्या सुरुवातीला आणि शेवटी असे प्रत्येक आठवडय़ात एकदा किंवा दोनदा याप्रमाणे तीन आठवडे करावे. तीन आठवडय़ांतील सर्व मोजमापे जर नॉर्मलपेक्षा जास्त असतील किंवा जर अध्र्यापेक्षा अधिक मोजमापे अधिक असेल तर अशा व्यक्तींना अति रक्तदाब आहे असे निदान करण्यात येते. रक्तदाब हा फारच जास्त असेल उदा. १८०/ १२० तर अशा रुग्णांना ताबडतोब रुग्णालयात भरती करून त्यावर औषधोपचार करावा लागतो.
* याच्या सोबतीला इसीजीमध्येसुद्धा दीर्घकालीन अति रक्तदाबाचे ठरावीक बदल होतात. त्यामुळे सर्व अशा रुग्णांना इसीजी काढणे आवश्यक असते.
* इकोकार्डियोग्राफी (ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY) या तपासणीमध्ये अति रक्तदाबाचे हृदयावरील परिणामाची नोंद घेतली जाते. यात हृदयाचा वाढलेला आकार, स्नायूंची वाढलेली जाडी, हृदयाच्या झडपांवर झालेला विपरीत परिणाम, हृदयाची कार्यक्षमता याचा समावेश होतो.
* डोळ्यांच्या तपासणीमध्ये अति रक्तदाबाचे डोळ्यावर आणि डोळ्यांच्या पटलावर (RETINA) झालेल्या परिणामांची नोंद घेतली जाते. याला FUNDOSCOPY असे म्हणतात. 
* रक्ताच्या तपासणीमध्ये किडणीवर झालेले विपरीत परिणाम याची कल्पना येते. जर अनुषंगिक अति रक्तदाब असेल तर त्या त्या अवयवाशी निगडित रक्त तपासण्या किंवा इतर अत्याधुनिक तपासण्या कराव्या लागतात. त्यामध्ये पोटाची सोनोग्राफी, सीटीस्कॅन, आयव्हीपी, अँजिओग्राफी, अ‍ॅवोटरेग्राफी, किडनीच्या रक्तवाहिनीच्या तपासण्या इत्यादीचा समावेश होतो. या तपासण्यांची निवड हृदयरोगतज्ज्ञ करतात.
अति रक्तदाबाचे उपचार
अति रक्तदाबाचा औषधोपचार हा तज्ज्ञ डॉक्टराकडूनच घ्यावा. एकदा का हा रक्तदाब नॉर्मल (योग्य) पातळीवर आला की मग वाटले तर रक्तदाबाचे मोजमाप करण्यासाठी नियमितपणे आपल्या फॅमिली डॉक्टरकडे जाण्यास काही हरकत नाही. मध्ये मध्ये हृदयतज्ज्ञ डॉक्टरकडे जाणे योग्य आहे.
वैद्यकीय औषधोपचाराबद्दल मी इथे विशेष काही लिहीत नाही, कारण हा व्यक्तिसापेक्ष असतो. प्रत्येक रुग्णाला वेगवेगळ्या प्रकारची औषधे वेगवेगळ्या प्रमाणात द्यावे लागतात. दहापेक्षा अधिक वेगवेगळ्या औषधांचे ग्रुप आहेत. त्यातून योग्य व्यक्तीसाठी योग्य औषधे योग्य प्रमाणात निवडणे हे तज्ज्ञ डॉक्टरचे काम आहे.
रक्तदाब कमी करण्यासाठी ज्या औषधाव्यतिरिक्त गोष्टीकडे लक्ष देणे आवश्यक आहे त्या खालीलप्रमाणे आहेत.
१) मिठाचा उपयोग कमी प्रमाणात करावा- मिठाचा अतिरेक टाळावा. बऱ्याच लोकांना जेवणात वरून मीठ घेण्याची सवय असते. ही सवय अतिरक्तदाब असलेल्या रुग्णांसाठी फार धोकादायक आहे. दररोज जेवणात फक्त तीन ते पाच ग्रॅम मिठाचाच वापर करावा. लिंबाचा रस, मिरे, मोहरी, जिरे या पदार्थाचे सेवन केल्यास मिठाची उणीव भासणार नाही.
२) धूम्रपान आणि तंबाखूचे सेवन टाळा- अतिरक्तदाबाचे हृदयावर होणारे दुष्परिणाम हे धूम्रपानामुळे वाढतात. ते लवकर व अधिक प्रमाणात होतात. धूम्रपान करणाऱ्या रुग्णांना औषधांचा सुद्धा जास्त डोस (मात्रा) लागतो. त्यामुळे धूम्रपान व तंबाखूचे सेवन टाळावे.
३) वजन कमी करणे- वजन कमी केल्याने थोडय़ा फार प्रमाणात रक्तदाब कमी होतो. अतिरिक्त वजन म्हणजे हृदयाला अतिरिक्त काम करावे लागते. चरबीच्या प्रत्येक पेशीपर्यंत रक्त पोहोचवण्यासाठी हृदयाला अधिक मेहनत करावी लागते. हा अतिरिक्त बोजा हृदयाला हानीकारक होऊ शकतो.
स्थूल व्यक्तींच्या रक्तामध्ये कॉलेस्टेरॉल (रक्तातील एक चरबी)चे प्रमाण जास्त असते. ते कालाप्रमाणे रक्तवाहिन्यांत जमा होत जाते. त्यामुळे रक्तवाहिन्या अरुंद व टणक बनतात. तसेच त्यांचा लवचीकपणा कमी होतो. या कारणांमुळे हृदयविकार व अतिरक्तदाब होतो. वजन कमी करण्यासाठी आहारावर नियंत्रण ठेवणे आवश्यक आहे. आहारात पालेभाज्या, भाज्यांची कोशिंबीर, गाजर, मुळा, काकडी, टोमॅटो, कच्च्या भाज्यांची सॅलाड भरपूर प्रमाणात खावीत. ताजी फळे खावीत. भात, वरण, भाजी, पोळय़ा असा सात्त्विक आहार योग्य प्रमाणात दोन वेळा योग्य वेळी घ्यावा. 
* पोळय़ांना तूप किंवा तेल लावू नये. तळलेल्या पदार्थाचे सेवन टाळावे.
* दुधाचा, मलाईचा अतिरेक टाळावा. चहा-कॉफी व इतर उत्तेजक टाळावे.
* केक, आईक्रीम, चॉकलेट, मिठाई, जाम, बटर, चीज, सुकामेवा, दारू टाळावी.
* मांसाहार कमीत कमी करावा. जास्त मसाल्याचे पदार्थ खाऊ नयेत.
* कॅल्शियम व पोटॅशियम क्षार यांचा योग्य प्रमाणात आहारात समावेश करावा.
४) व्यायाम आणि योगासने :
* वजन आणि रक्तदाब कमी करण्यासाठी आहारासोबत व्यायाम-योगासने करणे आवश्यक आहे. व्यायाम आणि योगासने केल्याने वाढलेला रक्तदाब हा कमी करता येतो. हे प्रयोगांती सिद्ध झाले आहे.
* भरभर चालणे, पोहणे, सायकल चालवणे, एरॉबिक्स, धावणे हे व्यायामाचे प्रकार अतिरक्तदाबाच्या व्यक्तीला अत्यंत फायदेशीर आहेत (या सर्व प्रकारांना आयसोटोनिक ISOTONIC EXERCISE असे म्हणतात). यात हृदयाची कार्यक्षमता व सहनशक्ती वाढते आणि रक्तवाहिन्यांतून रक्त वेगाने धावून रक्तवाहिन्यांची RIGIDITY (कठिणीकरणाची प्रक्रिया) सुद्धा कमी होते.
* अतिरक्तदाबाच्या रुग्णांनी वजन उचलण्याचे व्यायाम, दंडबैठका, सूर्यनमस्कार यासारखे व्यायाम करू नयेत.
* योगासने करणे लाभदायक असते. विशेषत: शवासन, पद्मासन, योगमुद्रा, धनुरासन, कोनासन करावे. यासाठी शास्त्रशुद्ध शिक्षकाची मदत घ्यावी. ज्यात मस्तक खाली राहते व पाय वर असतात, अशी आसने (शीर्षांसन) उच्च रक्तदाबाच्या रुग्णांनी करू नये.
‘योगा’ या जीवनशैलीचा फायदा रक्तदाबाच्या रुग्णांना होतो. त्यातील प्रत्याहार, धारणा, ध्यान आणि समाधी या गोष्टींमुळे अतिरक्तदाब आणि हृदयविकार होण्याचे प्रमाण कमी होते. यांना ‘मेडिटेशन’ असे म्हणतात.
ताण-तणाव कमी करणे
उच्च रक्तदाब कमी करण्यासाठी मानसिक ताण-तणाव कमी करणे आवश्यक आहे. अवाजवी काळजी (TENSION) किंवा तणाव घेणे म्हणजे रक्तदाब वाढवणे.
नेहमी हसतमुख राहणे, मन कुठे ना कुठे रमवणे, आपल्याला आवडेल आणि परवडेल असा काही छंद करावा. अतिमहत्त्वाकांक्षी, असमाधानी, नकारात्मक दृष्टिकोन असणाऱ्या व्यक्तींचा रक्तदाब सहसा जास्तच असतो. त्यामुळे आपल्या कर्तृत्वाची जाणीव ठेवून कर्मयोगी व्हावे. म्हणजेच फळाची इच्छा-अपेक्षा न राखता नियतकार्य करणे. त्याच्या परिणामाची दखल योग्य प्रमाणातच घ्यावी. पुन्हा प्रयत्न करावे. कारण प्रत्येक काळय़ा ढगाला रूपेरी किनार असते. प्रयत्न करणाऱ्यांना यश हे मिळतेच. म्हणजेच प्रयत्नवादी आणि आशावादी व्हावे.
क्रोधाची-संतापाची हकालपट्टी करावी. राग-लोभ-मत्सर यांपासून दूर राहण्याचा प्रयत्न करावा. स्वत:ची जीवनशैली बदलण्याचा प्रयत्न करावा. चांगली पुस्तके, चांगली व्याख्याने, चांगली संगत ठेवावी.
मनावरील ताण हलका करण्यासाठी श्वसनाचे काही व्यायाम आहेत. ते केल्यास मन स्थिर व शांत राहण्यास मदत होते. ते विचलित होत नाही. खंबीर राहते.
दररोज सात ते आठ तास रात्री शांत झोप घ्यावी. त्यासाठी झोपेच्या गोळय़ा घेऊ नयेत. आठवडय़ाच्या सहा दिवसांचा ताण घालवण्यासाठी रविवारच्या सुट्टीचा भरपूर उपयोग घ्यावा. मन रमेल आणि नेहमीच्या कामाचा विसर पडेल असे काही करण्यात भर द्यावा. परिवारासोबत बाहेर फिरायला जाणे, पर्यटन करणे म्हणजे मनातील मरगळ झटकून नव्या जोमाने, नव्या उत्साहाने पुढच्या आयुष्याची सुरुवात करावी.
‘आहार-विहार-विचार-आचार’ यांच्यावर नियंत्रण ठेवावे. व्यसनांना दूर ठेवावे. मद्यपान, धूम्रपान टाळावे. ‘HURRY, WORRY, CURRYX’ या गोष्टी आजाराला निमंत्रण देतात. या टाळण्याचा प्रयत्न करावा. या सर्व गोष्टींकडे व्यवस्थितपणे लक्ष दिल्यास आपण सर्व दीर्घायुषी व्हाल यात शंकाच नाही.

जो भी मुझमें परम भक्ति के साथ इस परम गोपनीय ज्ञान को मेरे भक्तों को सुनाएगा, वह निस्संदेह मुझे प्राप्त करेगा। मनुष्यों में उस से अधिक मेरा प्रिय कार्य करने वाला कोई भी नहीं है, और भूमंडल में उस से अधिक मेरा प्रिय दूसरा कोई भी नहीं होगा।

Bhagavad Gita 18.68-69:

 Whoever, with supreme devotion to Me, imparts this supreme secret to My devotees will undoubtedly attain Me. There is no one among humans who performs a service dearer to Me than they, and there will never be anyone dearer to Me on earth.

उस दिव्य विश्वरूप में, अर्जुन ने अनेकानेक मुखों और नेत्रों को देखा, जिनमें अनगिनत अद्भुत दृश्य थे और वो कई दिव्य आभूषणों से सुशोभित तथा कई दिव्य आयुधों को धारण किए हुए थे। दिव्य मालाओं तथा वस्त्रों को परिधान किए हुए दिव्य गंधों से लिपित होकर उन्होंने स्वयं को सर्वाश्चर्यमय, प्रकाशमान, और अनन्त के रूप में प्रकट किया था, जिनके मुखें सभी दिशाओं में थे।

Bhagavad Gita 11.10-11: 

In that divine cosmic form, Arjuna beheld numerous mouths and eyes, possessing countless wondrous sights adorned with many celestial ornaments and wielding a multitude of uplifted divine weapons. Wearing heavenly garlands and garments anointed with divine fragrances, He revealed Himself as the all-wonderful, resplendent, and boundless one, having faces in all directions.

Bhagavad Gita 18.63

इति ते ज्ञानमाख्यातं गुह्याद्गुह्यतरं मया |

पृथ्वी, जल, अग्नि, वायु, आकाश, मन, बुद्धि और अहंकार - यह आठ प्रकार से विभक्त हुई मेरी प्रकृति है। यह मेरी अपरा प्रकृति है, परन्तु हे महाबाहु अर्जुन! इसके अतिरिक्त जीवन तत्वरूपी मेरी परा प्रकृति को जानो जिससे संपूर्ण ब्रह्मांड धारण किया जाता है। यह समझो कि सभी प्राणियों की उत्पत्ति इन दोनो प्रकृतियो से हुई है और मैं ही समस्त ब्रह्माण्ड का मूल तथा प्रलय भी हूँ।

Bhagavad Gita 7.4-6: 

Earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intellect, and ego—these are the eight parts of My Nature (Prakriti). This is My Inferior Prakriti; but, O mighty armed Arjun! Besides this, know that My Superior Prakriti is the very life element by which the whole universe is upheld. Understand that all beings are born from these two Prakritis, and I am the source as well as the dissolution of the entire universe.

Bhagavad Gita 10.20

अहमात्मा गुडाकेश सर्वभूताशयस्थित: |
अहमादिश्च मध्यं च भूतानामन्त एव च ||

अनुवाद: हे अर्जुन! मैं सभी प्राणियों के हृदयों में स्थित सार्वभौमिक आत्मा हूँ; अत: मैं ही समस्त प्राणियों का आदि, मध्य तथा अन्त हूँ।

O Arjuna! I am the universal self (atman), seated in the hearts of all living beings. I alone am the beginning, the middle, and the end of all beings.

बुद्धियुक्तो जहातीह उभे सुकृतदुष्कृते |

अनुवाद: बुद्धियुक्त व्यक्ति इस जीवन में अच्छे और बुरे दोनों प्रकार के कर्मों को त्याग देता है। इसलिए, योग में रत हो जाओ, क्योंकि कर्मों में कुशलता ही योग है।

Bhagavad Gita 2.50: 

Endowed with wisdom, one relinquishes both good and evil deeds in this life. Therefore, immerse yourself in Yoga, for Yoga is indeed proficiency in actions.

Bhagavad Gita 6.19

यथा दीपो निवातस्थो नेङ्गते सोपमा स्मृता |
योगिनो यतचित्तस्य युञ्जतो योगमात्मन: ||

अनुवाद: वायुरहित स्थान पर दीपक की लौ झिलमिलाहट नहीं करती। इस तुलना का प्रयोग आत्मयोग में लीन योगी के नियंत्रित मन के लिए किया जाता है।

The flame of a lamp in a windless place doesn't flicker. This comparison is used for the controlled mind of a yogi absorbed in the yoga of the self (atman).

अथ चित्तं समाधातुं न शक्नोषि मयि स्थिरम् |
अभ्यासयोगेन ततो मामिच्छाप्तुं धनञ्जय ||

अनुवाद: हे धनञ्जय! यदि तुम अपने मन को मुझमें स्थिर करने में असमर्थ हो, तो अभ्यासयोग के माध्यम से मुझे प्राप्त करने का प्रयत्न करो।

 O Dhananjaya! If you are unable to focus your mind steadily on Me, seek to attain Me through the yoga of practice.

I’m a student and there are so many distractions around me.

Question - I’m a student and there are so many distractions around me. When I start studying I easily get distracted. Is there any permanent solution this?

Gurudev Sri Sri - Why do you want a permanent solution? There is no permanent medicine in life. Whenever you get distracted, see what is distracting you? When you're watching an interesting movie, the mind is not distracted. There is some craving, there is something that you want. And when you're a student the real distraction is your boyfriend or girlfriend. That's a distraction. At that time you have to take a stand, 'Okay, now for the next few days I’m going to focus on my studies as exams are nearing. I have to prepare myself, look at my career!
The very fact that you feel you are getting distracted, you're already coming out of it. So you don't have to be too concerned about it. Definitely do some pranayama, yoga, some exercises.

Gurudev Sri Sri - Every event is an opportunity to deepen your wisdom. An unpleasant event somewhere kindles the deep wisdom we are born with. Whether positive or negative, every event kindles this in us. If an event overpowers us, we lose our emotions and intellect. Then we need help. That is where communion comes in. We sit together and sing and the load is lifted off. Everyone must take some time in life to dwell on the truth. This is satsang, to be in the company of truth. Keep on encountering truth in our lives. Just a few moments can bring such peace, stability and strength.

I tell you if they choose to take up the path of Yoga instead, a different intoxication and energy surges from within that uplifts and takes them to a higher place. I often tell the youth that once you come to me, I shall provide you with the highest intoxicant before which every other intoxicant will fail. Yoga is a kind of intoxication too, but it is one that uplifts you and elevates you to greater progress. It prevents your downfall into ignorance and negativity. It brings a wave of harmony and belongingness throughout society. Such is the greatness of Yoga.

You are suffering.

Sometimes you feel that you haven't harmed anyone in ur present life, or even thought ill of anyone, yet you are suffering.

You should always remember that people’s ideas, emotions and opinions keep on changing. Everything changes. Many friends become enemies & enemies become friends. You're friends with somebody & suddenly for no obvious reason they become ur enemy. You haven't done anything wrong to anyone, yet they turn out to be unfriendly towards you. Sometimes people who you don't even know will come to ur help. You haven't done them any great favour, yet they help you. This friendship & animosity works on a deeper principle called karma.

If ur time is good, ur worst enemies also start behaving like ur friends. And if ur time is not good, then ur closest friends too will misunderstand you & start behaving like ur enemies. If you look back, you will realise that somewhere you have sown the seeds for a tree of thorns. So today, or sometime later, you will surely have to reap the thorns of that tree.

There are two types of karma: one that immediately gives fruit and second, one that yields fruit sometime later. For example, if you place ur hand in a fire, you will immediately get burnt, right now, not tomorrow or any time later. But if you sow a mango seed today, it will take a few years for it to grow into a tree. In the same way, some karmas yield their fruits almost instantly, while some take time to bear fruit. 

Look back at ur own life & see how many challenges you have had and how you have sailed through them & come out. This will give you confidence. The other option is to realise that you have to pay some debt, and so you are undergoing what you are undergoing. But do not think that every problem or suffering that you go through is only because of ur actions from past lifetimes. Some of it also comes because of the foolishness and ignorance from the present lifetime also. 

To free yourself from the results of past actions, you should regularly practice sadhana (spiritual practices).When you see this from a bigger perspective, great inner strength dawns within you and you are able to smile through any situation.

Question - Gurudev, what is the key to achieve more growth and success in life? 

Gurudev Sri Sri - Three things are needed to achieve in life : 
1. Real intention - There should be a real need to have whatever it is you want. Our wants keep changing, but if it is our need, we will get it. The want has to become our need.
2. Self effort - One has to put effort for whatever you want. You can't simply sit, and keep wishing, 'I want this, I want that'. Have you put your effort? Has the want become your need? Have you worked towards it? Have you put your 100%? This is necessary.
3. Time or karma - If karma is there, the time is right, you will get it. Suppose, I wish to see the moon now, on a dark night. No matter what intention I put, how can I see the moon now? I have to wait for another 15 days to see the full moon. On the new moon day, if you are wishing for the full moon, then you have to wait. If you plant a pomegranate tree today and say, 'No, I want the fruit now' Come on, you have to wait for another 2-3 years. The pomegranate tree will give you fruit only in 2-3 years. So, time or karma is a factor.

Gurudev Sri Sri - When you feel that everything is going to stay here, but I am going to die one day, and everything appears meaningless, what you do appears to be meaningless, at this time I would like you to read Yoga Vasistha. You can play the Yoga Vasistha CDs and listen to it, or take the book and read it. You will understand the nature of consciousness, who you are, what you are. This feeling that everything is meaningless, there is no point, why are we here, why this universe, these questions indicate a very mature intellect. This is the right time to go deep into knowledge. Vedic wisdom will also help you.It is very fortunate, you should feel very happy that you got this question. Many people don't feel this for a very long time. So when you feel it, you should think, ‘Oh I am so fortunate’.

How do we grow higher in evolution and how do we get there?

Question - Gurudev, how do we grow higher in evolution and how do we get there?

Gurudev Sri Sri - When trivial things, unimportant things lose their significance in life. When you wake up and realise, 'Oh, these are small things', and you stop complaining and talking behind others back, and all these little little tricks of the mind. When you are tired of negativity, you are already growing and when you accept the world as it is, then you're growing one step higher.

I have so much love for you, it is so much in me that I don't know how to express it to you. Can you please tell me what to do?

Question - Gurudev, I have so much love for you, it is so much in me that I don't know how to express it to you. Can you please tell me what to do?

Gurudev Sri Sri - You have said it already. (Laughs) True love always feel like that. You feel you cannot express yourself, because love cannot be contained in expression. Love is so huge. And for ages, people have tried to express their love and finally they felt they cannot. Even the great sage Narada said, 'Anirvachaniyam prema swarupam'. You cannot express it. The nature of true love is that it is beyond expression.

What should a person who is physically, mentally and socially weak do to become strong in all the three areas?

Question - Gurudev, what should a person who is physically, mentally and socially weak do to become strong in all the three areas?

Gurudev Sri Sri - First of all, you should not brand yourself that you are very weak. The moment you brand yourself as weak, you find yourself even weaker. Know that you don't know yourself, you don't know your strength. You will find that you have enough strength to do what you want to do.

You just said that we should not consider anyone as bad. If others treat us badly, how do we react to that?

Question - Gurudev, you just said that we should not consider anyone as bad. If others treat us badly, how do we react to that?

Gurudev Sri Sri - If others have a negative opinion about you, it is their problem, not yours. From your side, do not consider anyone as bad. By doing this, your mind will be clear and pleasant and your intellect will be sharp. Otherwise, the people whom you consider as bad will begin to haunt your mind like a ghost. When such thoughts get into your mind, you will not be able to do something creative.

Chapter 2 - The Path To The Goal That Is You

Day 86 - Discipline

People who are free regret that they do not have discipline. They keep promising that they will become disciplined. People who are disciplined look for the end, discipline is not an end in itself, it is a means. Look at people who have no discipline, they are miserable. 

Freedom without discipline is absolute misery. Discipline without freedom is suffocating. Orderliness is monotonous and chaos is stressful. We must make our discipline free and our freedom disciplined. People who have company all the time, look for the comforts of solitude. People who are in solitude feel so lonely and want company. 

People in a cold place want a warm place. People in a warm place love something cool. This is the dilemma of life, everyone is looking for perfect balance. Perfect balance is like a razor’s edge. It can only be found in the self. Initiation is called diksha. In Sanskrit “di” means intellect. “Ksha” means the horizon or the end. 

Diksha means transcending the intellect. Education is called shiksha, the horizon of discipline, total discipline. Discipline is needed for education. Diksha is needed for meditation. A teacher gives shiksha. A guru gives diksha. A Guru takes you beyond the intellect to the realm of being. It is a journey from the head to the heart. 

Blossoming beyond the intellect is diksha. If you do not go beyond the intellect, you will not smile, you will not laugh. Once diksha happens, you are happy, blissful and contented and your thirst for knowledge is quenched. Totality of discipline is shiksha. Totality of intelligence is diksha.

Difference between an intention and a desire

There is a difference between an intention and a desire. Desire is that which gives you anger and upsets you. Sankalpa is having an intention.

 It means taking your consciousness to the universe, to the infinite; then bringing the mind to the present moment, and making a wish for something that you long for in your mind. Desire means to want it to happen now. In sankalpa you say, “Let it happen whenever it has to.”

Strength lies in the power of your sankalpa (intention). The mind is full of sankalpa and vikalpa (imagination, fancy). All work gets done through sankalpa. Even the act of moving one’s arm is preceded by the sankalpa in the mind. The sankalpa of a weak mind is ineffective. We can make our mind strong by sadhana (spiritual practices) and knowledge. Then the sankalpa will also be strong.

When sankalpa arises in your heart, then it helps expand your consciousness in the universe. In this huge universe, I want this little sankalpa to happen. Suppose you are asking a question to someone and you have a doubt whether this question will be answered or not, you will hesitate to ask it or you will make errors even in the process of asking.

So the right way of asking is, first, having that confidence in the divine and knowing that “I have this request and it will be granted to me.” One should apply effort, work and also relax. Before going to bed, meditate for 10 minutes and surrender whatever you desire, and sleep happily. The main things to follow are sadhana (spiritual practices and self effort), awareness, and then abandoning of feverishness.
